Well so far so good thanks to all your help.

My Toppy has been updated without serious problem and some things which were missing have been restored.
There are a couple of reported issues which I do not understand, not clear how to remedy and don't appear to be having any deleterious effect at present :

Mismatched extend padding values - recommend set to those in my stuff.
How and where ?

"All 4s.mcl" has at least one blank line at end of file
How and where to remedy ?

Generally well pleased with the outcome.

Timers
K1: Pad Timers at Start (minutes)=2
K2: Pad Timers at End (minutes)=6

(It may not be section K now - I must get my web page up to date!)

Or change the values in /ProgramFiles/Settings/Extend.ini to match your MyStuff settings (at least, I think that's where you'll find Extend's ini file - I'm not near my Toppy atm). You may also be able to edit it from within TopManager.
btw, 2mins pre-padding and 6mins post-padding is the default - and for good reason: it works well.

You'll need to copy it back to your PC to fix it. Or use TopManager. Or use Channel Organiser to edit / save it.

The normal problem is that users have changed the padding values in MyStuff without changing those in Extend.ini.
If this is the case, the easiest solution is to use MS to set K1 and K2 back to their default values (as described by juwlz)
If K1 and K2 are set to 2 and 6 then you need to edit the Extend, ini file to match e.g.
1) TopManager| Connection| Browse
2) Double click on the settings folder (either pane)
3) Select Extend.ini in the right pane
4) Right click and Edit (or click Edit on main menu)
5) Reboot the toppy after changing/saving the edit

To fix the favourites file
1) Install PcControl tap (if you haven't already done so)
1a) Tools| Install Files| PcControl
1b) Reboot toppy

Then
2) PcControl| Show Menus and PcControl| Channel Management
3) If you need to, "Perform Scan"

4) Right click in display and select "All Pay, Porn..."
5) Delete channels
6) Finalize

You probably don't need 4 or 5 but it doesn't hurt to do them.
Step 6 ensures that all the files are consistent.

Thanks, I know you are all trying to help.
Problem is I cannot for the life of me recall how to open My Stuff to make the alterations !!!
I can open Altair and I can see MY Stuff 6.5 is there but how do I get to the page where I change the padding?

I just can't even start. Really Sorry to be so dumb.

You can't edit the options directly, you must use MS,

So, display any MS screen e.g. archive
Press Menu
Scroll to required option and press enter to change it (or right/left big buttons; I can't remember)

You don't use Altair. You do it on the Toppy itself. (It's all in the manual Wink .)

There's general information about MyStuff here

Here's how to access the MyStuff Menu

Ok !!
Got there in the end. All the way.
And found the *mcl" files already had the blank lines eliminated
so probably something I'd done earlier had resolved the problem.

With luck I reckon its cleaned up now thanks.

Geoff and Julie.
To avoid the ignominy of having to admit my ignorance of the above, I searched the manual and the website but in vain. Did I just overlook it showing very obviously some place ?

So as a matter of interest, where in the My Stuff manual (mine is version 6 dated 11/09/2009) or elsewhere for that matter, is it documented that you start My Stuff by clicking "Menu" with any MS screen ? How would I have known what was an MS screen in the first place - it was only when you added "e.g. archive" that I realised (or remembered? that all of them are)

For example, why isn't it included explicitly in the section 1.3 Quick Start Guide where I would have thought it was critical info for a beginner?
Nor does it have even a mention in 1.5 Navigation - this critical button is totally overlooked !!!

I fear you are all so expert that you no longer perceive it from the viewpoint of a novice and the Manual, which is a complex but truly wonderful resource once you get to know it, is a great struggle at first and also after not using it for an extended period.

1.7. Accessing the MyStuff Options
If you wish to customise the way MyStuff works then this can be done through the Options
screen. This can be accessed by invoking a MyStuff screen (eg Now&Next, Archive, Guide
etc) and then press Menu whilst the screen is displayed. For details on all the options see
Appendix i. Note Option Z8 allows the MyStuff Options screen to be reached directly using
Menu at any time, and the Toppy native Menu can be accessed using Play to display the
play bar and then Menu.

Your manual is out of date - you should be using 6.5 (corresponding to the version of MS that you are using). Mine is dated 19/06/2013. As far as I know, your manual had similar content (but not necessarily 1.7).

The installer for MS 6.5 should have installed the latest version on your pc - suggest you look for it (if you just installed the tap without using the installer then reinstall MS again using the installer or obtain the pdf from BobD's site).

Please note that I have no involvement with the MyStuff team other than finding them all very helpful!

Geoff

Thanks Geoff. I'll check and download the later version.
I did not find that section or anything like it in my version of the manual which is why I commented thinking it might be helpful and lead to an update.
Unbeknown to me, it had already happened.
And please believe me - I do not underestimate the help I have had from everyone on this site.
