I set a mystuff series search for the new family guy on BBC3, but now find it is populated by all all sort of episodes from old series.

I've gone back to using a text timer set to look only on Sat & Sun and am manually trimming the old episodes.

I just wondered if anyone had any better ideas?

Do you really mean an SS, or did you set a PS?

If it's an SS, it should only find repeats of the same series. If it's a PS, then it will create search groups for anything that matches Family Guy in the text part of the search.

See MyStuff Searches - How the different search types work.

Either way, you can open up the search and exclude the search groups that are matching timers for episodes you don't want by pressing White on the header for the search group. Presumably you haven't already recorded them (or the CRID info has changed, because they were shown more than 6 months ago), or Mystuff wouldn't set the timers anyway.

Yes I did

I think it is the BBC making a mess of it- i.e. not assigning a unique series ID, and therefore probably not much I can do about it, apart from what I have done.

What is currently being shown is a "A selection from the top 10 episodes of the American animation as voted for by viewers." This 10 is given a new series crid, not their original ones.

Hmm. I've just created an SS from tomorrow's episode at 23:20, and I just got that episode (SCRID /KQ1NB0) and the one immediately following it.

The episodes at 00:05 and 00:25 one Sunday morning have not been picked up. They have SCRID /L2IMG8, as do the ones tonight.

The two episodes per day from Monday-Friday next week have SCRID /KMAFYZ - presumably these are the 10 favourite episodes that mstombs is referring to.

If the BBC had got it wrong before, they seem to have sorted it out now.

I've deleted the old search and created a new series search, took a screen shot see here

For some reason its picking up more than just the series I want it to.
edit: To be clear all I'm after is the new Series 10 which is on a Sunday night, and repeated the next Saturday and it was the sunday night episode I tried to set the SS on.

Your screenshot shows that you're picking up the "series" that's showing two episodes per night for next week, i.e. SCRID /KMAFYZ. If you press and hold the header line (the one that starts with [+], you'll be able to see the series of alternate showings for that SCRID (from which no timers have been set, as they're all either being set by the series group for /KMAFYZ or are unresolvable clashes)

... and these are the ones you're seeing in your search (as evidenced by the information in the top of your screenshot, which tells you which SCRID it's matching).

You have to pick one of the episodes you want to watch (presumably the 23:20 showing tomorrow night) to create the search from. There are three separate SCRIDs for Family Guy, and each SS will only find other episodes with the same SCRID, or episodes where MyStuff has found repeats with idential ECRIDs.

If any of these 4 episodes are the ones you want, you have to create the SS by selecting one of them.

Otherwise, it seems that the episodes you're after just happen to be one of the 10 favourite repeats, and only incidentally part of Series 10.

I think it is just one of those annoying things were the TV provider is being less than helpful with its SCRID.

The new family guy series is on Sundays at 10 (according to the BBC3 website) and for whatever reason the BBC is mixing up this new series and episodes with the repeats in the series ID.

Thanks all for your help anyway

The BBC messed around with the Top 10, duplicating the programmes from last weekend during the following week, but then they renamed them sometime around last weekend. I'm not sure if the repeats had the lame Webb intros. They also messed up some of the series info, as the MS PS initially wanted to record the repeats as well as the originals, both called "Top 10...".

They then disappeared from my PS as duplicates sometime during last weekend. Not sure if they were duplicates of the original shows or the Top 10.

I think I have fathomed this out. Cool

The new series (series 10) is on Sunday evenings starting at 22:00 on the 10th and is accompanied by one at 22:20 from the first series with 23 episodes. This pair is repeated the following Sunday.

During the week there are repeats of another series with 16 episodes which started on the 11th with episodes 1 & 3 (episode 2 was skipped ! Rolling Eyes ). The series link for this stopped at episode 10 and 11 had a different link. I hope that is perfectly clear, I shall be asking questions later. Surprised

Is there any way I can bring up a power Search of Say 'The Simpsons' and tell it not to record any of Season 10, but still record season 11+ ?
When I select dont record this series, it skips all episodes.

Only if the broadcasters are using a different Series CRID for Season 10 vs Season 11. It sounds as though they're not.

You could just try opening up the search and seeing whether there are separate search groups for S10 vs S11+ (which will only be the case if they're using different SCRIDs). If so, you can exclude the S10 search groups from there.
