It would do nothing at that time with that file - the timer is only actioned (and then deleted) after 14:00 on the nominated day as the Tx changes generally seem to happen at midday. If you try it now, it should try to rescan.

If it goes wrong again, Could you please email the timer file just in case there are any stray characters that CO doesn't like and so I can test under as similar as possible conditions to yours.

EMJB
ok - that explains the (my) confusion.

I'll try again after 9 tonight - any chance of a version which appends the logs? (actually, using the serial port achieves this anyway.)

edit... and maybe runs all day??

Tried again now it's past 14:00 Smile

First time it worked to completion Shocked

Second time it crashed immediately.

Here's a crash trace.......
Code:
I've emailed it first_capture.txt

Selected Belmont and it did scan, I had to reselect yes to remember deleted channels.

Then crashed again and again - I'll email the trace:

What happens if you try it with EPG2MEI.tap removed from Auto Start (just as a test); EMJB and I have had lots of problems in the past trying to reliably shut down this tap (it patches itself into the firmware and doesn't clean itself out when it closes).

The latest information from "ccs" points towards this being the problem, so I have changed the link back to version 10 (the one before I tried to add the search timer) while I see if I can find a way round the problem. Sorry, "funkyred", nothing I can do to solve your problem of being away on retune day unless you can do without EPG2MEI for that time.

I'll give it a try minus epg2mei later tonight.

Just a thought, epg2mei waits 5 minutes before starting up.

Does it need stopping at all?

Unfortunately, EPG2MEI patches itself into the firmware and then waits for 5 minutes. It does need to be stopped/restarted because otherwise it will not recognise the new lineup. As I understand it, the patching mechanism means that it will still do stuff even if the EPG2MEI tap is paused using a standard tap call.

One possible solution would be to run a tap which starts EPG2MEI after 5 minutes (messy, makes things more complicated and no guarantee that everyone would run use it).

Tried without epg2mei running - still crashes.

Email'd traces.

I'll have one last go without any taps (apart from CO Smile )

Just been having a play with CO, and I started it whilst epg2mei was still running, and it ran without a problem Smile
Whilst I thank you guys for all your hard work, I don't think this will solve my problem as the tap still needs some user interface (unless I'm missing something).
It's only SWMBO programs anyway.
Once again thanks.

With no taps in autostart, apart from CO and crashtrace, everything seems ok.

I've tried it 3 times without any crashes.

The only (known) problem is that if I reboot too soon, CO then runs interactively.

The first time I put all taps back in autostart, CO crashed again.

I've tried with all but epg2mei before and it crashed.

Any other taps I should try to remove?

Bearing in mind that it may be a combination of taps which causes the issues.

It works fine if you fire it up yourself.

What EMJB is trying to do is get a version which runs unattended on a particular day.

Tried first without MyStuff - ran ok twice.

When I rebooted the second time, CO kicked in again and crashed straight away.

Doesn't crash during unattended mode re-scan when MyStuff not loaded.

Only seems to crash (but not always) if I reboot too soon, and CO comes back in interactive mode.

Put MyStuff back and removed MyInfo - crashed during unattended mode.

Looks like MyStuff running is part of the problem.

Your problem with interactive mode appearing at boot after V&V is probably associated with the logic of trying to decide whether it has started at boot, or been started manually later - very difficult to get some logic that works perfectly every time, particularly if you do a reboot after a short run.
Is it possible to check the full path name of the tap - starting from autostart would surely be the key?

One could simply assume that if it started from Auto Start that it was starting automatically at boot time. However one would then need a second copy elsewhere for running manually, with attendant risks of having different versions. The current logic uses the "start from" directory + time since boot + time since last started, and seems to work under normal use but fail when doing frequent reboots.

Thanks - have been working on a version with delay to allow other TAPs to get established which may solve the problem.

Fair enough. I was imagining only putting it in autostart for "special occasions".

I guess catching out "lost all channels" will be very handy.
