According to this local TV hasn't started yet for Tacolneston.

However there is likely to be a minor retune on 31/3 or 1/4 for a shopping channel mux change.

http://www.a516digital.com/p/local-tv.html shows Tacolston in blue (blue indicates that it is "on air or testing")

I have provided EMJB with a new transmitter file (FvTxData.tsv) which includes all the mux numbers shown in the above link (but he hasn't released it yet).

If you can't receive it then you are either in an area that it can't reach or it isn't on air yet. Assuming you have a Freeview TV, see if that can display the new channel.
If the TV can't see it then all I can suggest is that you leave it a week before retrying (repeat until it works!)

Geoff

[edit]http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showpost.php?p=67631599&postcount=333 indicates that it should have been on air since 30th Jan 2014[/edit]

I've been searching (not at home at the moment);

found this:

http://www.ukfree.tv/localtvinfo.php

Norwich
Mustard
Muxtiplex LNR
http://www.archant.co.uk/
Freeview channel: 8

Tacolneston (Norfolk, England) LNR-H
C57 263m at 10000W from 30th January 2014

I also posted to Mustard's Facebook;

They said:

Hi Paul - Digital UK will be able to help if you have retuning troubles, however it's important to note Diss is outside of our expected transmission area. It's worth getting in touch with them though - details are here: http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/

In that case, you want to delete that mux completely; if you don't the toppy file system (i.e. disk) is likely to get trashed.

Don't worry, I was only "browsing" in the built-in Toppy manual tune, which allows you to see those figures BEFORE tuning to a channel.

Question - do Mustard have a separate antenna or MUX or something?

How come I can get everything else loud and clear from Tacolnestone, but not mustard?

I suspect it is lower power than the other muxes - variations in power were common before digital changeover.

MustardTV is on the local mux carrying (AFAIK) LCN8, 64 and 75 and is at a considerably reduced power (a tenth) than the others. Not only that, in your area to avoid conflicts the transmitted signal is directional and your location may not be in the direction they had in mind. Put your postcode & house number in http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/coveragechecker/ to see.

As I posted elsewhere, if you try to record a channel with an inadequate signal, the Toppy will kindly trash your hard drive for you.

[Edit: After a bit more poking around, I don't think your local service is broadcasting yet, so if you are getting anything, it will be just test sigals. The date for Tacolneston is sometime between 'real soon now' and no later than June 23rd for Wimbledon 2014.

I believe it is worse than that - tuned into the dodgy channel with either tuner could cause problems even if there is no disc activity, but the probability of disc problems is much higher if any disc writing is happening, irrespective of what is being written.

My reasoning is that whenever you are tuned to a channel it is decoding the subtitles from the message format even if they are not being displayed, and garbled received data sometimes causes the subtitles to overflow their allocated memory. Once one bit of memory is garbled, it can quickly spread to the area containing the disc control, and so the disc gets garbled too.

I suspect that it is beaming toward Norwich, and you are on the other side of the transmitter. The name Mustard is I think a reference to Colman's mustard, which famously comes from Norwich, where the "only mustard shop in the world" may be found.

FWIW, I can get the channel, and after looking at it once, probably won't ever again.

If you are a shopping channel enthusiast you may find some changes if you rescan. LCN23 Bid has moved from SDN (COM4) to ARQ A (COM5) (replacing Price Drop)
LCN37 Price Drop has moved to COM7 (HD), so Toppy won't see it.
LCN66 CBS Reality has been added to SDN (COM4) (but no programmes as yet)
LCN182 Xpanded TV has been added to SDN (COM4)

It's a bit of an early warning, but expect a mass re-schuffle of LCNs on Wednesday 3rd September, with 70-85 moving to 120-135. Now while this may be no big deal, I have a sneaking suspicion that we may see changes which will affect the Toppy in the way discussed in this thread "General Toppy discussions ~ Some recordings are very short" at http://forum.toppy.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20194. However, the 28 pages contain numerous red herrings before and after the problem was isolated but for future reference the result is summarised here.
