I'm looking for a freesat pvr.
I like the community & hackability of the foxsat hdr but am concerned that its already quite long in the tooth and is generally slow to respond to commands. Slow response wouldnt go down well with the wive and family - esp after speedy mystuff.
The samsung seems like a decent box, now that theyve fixed most of the software issues.
The echostar also seems like a decent system, although i'm not sure i'll ever use the sling features.
Has anyone got any experience of all 3? or otherwise in a position to make any recommendations?

I don't find my Foxsat HDR slow to respond. |

You can 'bulk' delete from file manager, OPT+, yellow, select files and press red, then switch off and go to bed. It will go to standby when files are deleted |

But only if they are all in the same folder. I suppose you could set up a Delete folder and move all the recordings from the various other folders to that first which, while the moves happen more or less without any appreciable delay, is a bit of a faff.
But I tend to delete as I go and if it is a series then delete the previous episode when I start watching the new one. That has the advantage of seeing which series I am currently following while in the Recordings Lists (it auto-files each series in its own folder). |
