I don't know which PSU that model uses. Can you provide a photograph of the PSU?

Replacing all the brown ones would be a good start, but there will probably be others that need replacing too.

If it is the same as the 5800, I can supply a kit.

If it is not the same, but you can tell me what values are used, I can probably supply a 'special' kit.

Gavril, do you not have people in your own country that can supply electrical fault fixing?

  • I think most Topfield PSU's have an imprint of the output voltages on the PCB. If you are SAFE and have a multimeter then you might want to measure the voltages before proceeding with any repair.
  • Moreover, a totally dead machine could simply be due to a blown fuse. All Topfields have a glass/quick blow fuse (around 2A) on the PSU PCB; Easy to check as they totally shatter when short-circuited! Quick blow ones may not shatter.
  • Of course a blown fuse itself may be due to "other" causes which would need to be rectified first or else you'll just get more fuses blowing Confused

The 5800 PSU I have has the number ORTP-831 so I don't known how similar it might be.

A totally dead Toppy may have a blown fuse as jumbo suggests, but there would be a reason why it blew as it is generously rated. Check the bridge diodes if the the fuse has blown.

The following relate to a 'dead' 5800 PSU:

There is a small 47uF 50V capacitor near the large heatsink. If this fails the PSU will not start.

There is a resistor R1 (150k) near the bridge rectifier. This can go open circuit. Beware - when this happens, the 400V capacitor does not discharge and you can get a shock even days after it has been switched off (personal experience Shocked ).

YES i changed the fuse,no joy.and yes of course i can find parts here, but first option was to go to a skilled tehnician;second option is to read, find more details and one more trip to tenician.he indeed measure some capacitors and yes it was to low numers like the one 5v line it was 3,5 3,8; 3v about 1,9;2,3
and so....he changed thouse 2 and get some good lines,5v become 5v and some 2 ,but stil no power on the front panel, its passing power to main board but to low

As it's not totally dead, my post above does not apply.

I suspect that the capacitors on the 3.3V are causing the problem. On the 5800 PSU, these are C25 (1000uF 16V), C26 & C27 (470uF 10V). But you should change all the brown Sam Youngs as well.

It's possible that there's some damage to the mainboard. There is a regulator that feeds the main processor, a switch IC for powering the HDD, a tuning transistor and a front panel transistor, any of which can be damaged by a failing PSU.
