Set about installing Channel Organiser tap (I've got loads of duplicates after the channel changes). No problem with that. Ran it and was presented with a page of options - I accepted the defaults. The process started and after a few seconds jumped to the first layer of the Toppy menu. I can navigate throughout the menu but I can not exit it.

I have rebooted several times but the machine opens up in the menu and the screen on the toppy shows a set of vertical bars (like an E without the vertical part) followed by "ENU" - presumably indicating Menu.

I selected factory settings without that changing the situation.

I tried to install channels and that then produced zero tv or radio channels

On reboot I have held down the zero to disable Taps - no change.

In desperation I "updated" the firmware via this site ( I was already up to date) selecting the recommended version for 5800 with "mystuff". and that has not had any effect either.

Any ideas on what has gone wrong and how I can restore normal service ?

You cannot leave that menu until some channels are tuned. Did the aerial connection get disturbed while doing all the updating, as it sounds as if your Toppy is not getting any signal?

Also, try another Factory Reset before doing another scan, and make sure that you do NOT select Italy Wink. (Just in case that's why you're not finding any channels.)
