Just wondering, do I need to modify EPG2MEI.ini to match Extend.ini?

If they don't, you may find that you may not extend programmes correctly because EPG2MEI isn't collecting data about them, or because Extend doesn't think it should extend programmes that you DO have EPG information for.

More importantly, Extend.ini must match your MyStuff padding, or you'll get lots of programmes being extended that should be, thereby potentially adding up to 2 hours to each recording.

Thanks for explaining, I've just checked and the padding is correct too at 2 and 6 respectively.

Have I overlooked anything? Whilst I'm at it may as well try to get it all right. Is Extend.ini including by default unless excluded or restricted?

I assume so. From the readme:
Quote:
The channel restrictions are controlled by Extend.ini -- the supplied version should make the format obvious (containing LCNs and [single] broadcast time ranges), and it contains correct data for the UK's Freeview. The .ini file can be put in the same directory as the TAP or some other locations including the popular /ProgramFiles/Settings/.

By the way, you should check out ChannelOrganiser which will sort out channels, and also update Extend.ini and EPG2MEI.ini accordingly, as well as favourite files etc. It's a great tool,

Many thanks for letting me know that it works on Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

Looking at your signature, you have both MyStuff and UKAS on your toppy.
As these are both attempting to set timers/recordings, you may experience issues. Assuming your signature is correct and that both taps are in Auto Start, suggest you ditch one of them (UKAS ?)

Cheers
Geoff

Sorry to hijack the thread with other discussions. It didn't occur to me that MyStuff and UKAS could be in conflict. UKAS is good for putting in a generic search string to find anything that may come up. For example I can have say, 'Bob Dylan' in as a search and any programme TV or Radio, with him in the title or description will be recorded, to me that's a powerful thing to have and no end of times I've found a programme recorded that I had no idea was coming on and would certainly have missed otherwise.

I'm not aware of any conflict, but grateful for any advice.

More back on topic. I'm using TopManager quite a bit today and think it's a really useful prog. I've got quite a few files flagged as unrecognised or have an exclamation mark against them, and some marked as 'missing' is this anything that needs attention?

The .ini files are used by their respective taps to store information from one run to another. The files should be in the locations specified. They could be missing because you have never run that tap (usually taps will auto create a .ini file if one doesn't exist but some require you to copy one from the installation zip kit - it all depends on what the author has coded).

Suggest you run the taps with missing .ini files and see if they get created.

Your unrecognised *.old and *.mei files are just files that you no longer need i.e. you can delete them (select them, right click, delete)

When I used to use UKAS, the logo file was supposed to be in \ProgramFiles\Auto Start\UK TAP Project folder

The "Elsewhere" message means that you have more than one copy of Firmware.dat on the system (they may be the same or different). You only need one of these (unless you have special requirements, keep the one in \ProgramFiles\Settings and delete any others). If you can't find the other one, right click, expand all, and search using F3. Delete the file you don't need.

MyStuff does generic searches as you describe. So, read its manual and ditch UKAS.

Geoff

You don't need an extra TAP for that. MyStuff searches will do it too. (Just ask Hyde - he has quote a few of them, and also gets pleasantly surprised by finding recordings of things he didn't know would be on - although his are more likely to be for Pink Floyd Wink.) I have a few of them myself.

Indeed I do. At the risk of further ridicule I have searches for

Pink Floyd
Bryan Ferry
Genesis (This one throws up some odd ones, mostly religious and these get excluded, oh and the Star Trek film too)
Led Zep

On some occasions these have trapped something completely unexpected that turned out to be very good viewing.

Films (as a Genre search, so these don't get recorded unless I specifically select them, but having a ready list to review is great)

Then I have PS set for things like 'Location' in the title anywhere. The one PS then traps 'Location, Location, Location' and 'Re-location, Re-location, Re-location' and any other derivative like the 'revisited' versions. So I have one easy place to manage the timers from any of these series.

Pink Floyd

Thanks. I've dumped UKAS now and got all my favourite keyword searches as PS now in MS. Feel I've made a leap forward by doing that.
