Does anyone know if the topfield masterpiece will work with the proposed BBC iPlayer freesat service (via TAPs I suppose)?

iPlayer is proprietary and it'd require a network connection a la ethernet/wifi.

It's actually an MHEG application, but it would need a Freesat compliant MHEG engine, and the rest of the box to be able to cope with IPTV streams delivered by ethernet.

The application is delivered via the broadcast stream, and then requests the actual programs via your broadband link.

Nigel.

Just for information, both the Humax Freesat HD boxes work with IPlayer.

Just connect an ethernet cable from the Humax Freesat HD box to a broadband router and follow the instructions at

http://bbciplayerbetatrial09.freesat.co.uk/BBCiplayer

Warning: if you have a large screen TV it's very much blur-o-vision on the lower resolution settings.

It will be rolled out to all Freesat HD devices over coming months. But it's unlikely to appear on any non-Freesat branded products.
