What version of TM are you using?

The default is that, when there is no entry in Freeview.dat, the channel is deemed to have noEPG and will therefore appear in the [Exclude] section. The reason I asked about version is that EMJB changed the format of the Freeview.dat file (to allow wildcards for BBC regions); if you were running an old version of TM then it probably wouldn't have recognised BBC1 and would have added it as an [Exclude].

Suggest you ensure you have the latest version of TM and, if you haven't already updated Freeview.dat, use Tools| Install Files| Feeeview.dat.

I will look at modifying TM so that it treats a nonrecognised entry as having an EPG; this will minimise issues when new channels appear.

Geoff

Also remember that BBC 1 now includes the region in it's name so it's no longer just BBC 1. So that may have excluded LCN 1 if the names didn't match.

@ryclark

That is why I asked about which version he was using.

Actually, I've now found that I did default to HasEPG for unknown entries; it was just that a coding change to accomodate wild cards meant that the routine never returned the fact that it didn't recognise the channel (meaning I didn't artificially add the fact that it has EPG)

I will generate a new version of TM to correct the fault but, for now, anyone using the latest version of TM and Freeview.dat should be ok (apart from the fact that EMJB has flagged ITV4+1 as a shopping channel - I've sent him an email)

The only native EPG info was "The Store" - "Every day the Store brings you a fantastic range of products ...", but I now see pukka programming starts on Tuesday, which probably means some other channel is disappearing then.

Also how should the freeview.dat file be updated to cope with the local TV channels when they all start transmitting on LCN 8?
If you want to keep using B1.2, you will need to change it yourself. B2 has some logic that may allow it to cope depending on what they are called.

Thanks for the recent update to freeview.dat.

Further Qu on what to put for a local channel? Now have a local channel BONANZABONANZA on LCN 64, MUX transmitting on CH 51. Have added it to Freeview.dat with a MUX=LOCAL which seems to work so far. Is this the right way to go? Will B2 cope with this?

The local mux will carry, by definition, one local channel plus two main channels. So far only one main channel has appeared. ABC Shopping is a candidate, but not confirmed as yet.

I believe none of the other channels are on Tx 51, in which case you can give it any name you like, but I think the correct name is "LBS". I believe you should also receive "Made in Bristol" on LCN 8, which should be given the same MUX name. (If Tx 51 is used by any national channels, it should be given the same name as they use). B2 should be happy with that.

To make sure B2 + a future Freeview.dat cope with these local channels, I need lists of these local channels from round the country, with Name, LCN, broadcasting hours, and Service ID.

I have just updated Freeview.dat to reflect the appearance of Quest+1. C5+24 seems to be broadcasting mainly shopping rather than C5 delayed 24 hours, so I have restricted the hours to exclude the shopping as I assume no-one will be setting timers for the shopping!

This does not reflect the local channels issues discussed above.

As a starting point, you may find this link useful: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1934699 I doubt that you will find all the info in one place.

Will try LBS as the MUX. Made In Bristol is not up and running yet, no launch date so far.

Details for BONANZABONANZA - LCN=64 SvcId=32960 MUX=LBS StartTime=0000 EndTime=0000

Also for me ITV3+1 transmits 1800-0000, ITV4+1 0400-0600

Edit: channel name was wrong

The mux is definitely LBS. I thought M in B had started on 3oth January (can't check as I am out of range).

I noticed that Al Jazeera is still down as operating 1800 - 2300 whereas its actually operating 24hours.

Thanks for keeping it up to date and for CO.

The local Tx launched on 30th Jan, I seem to be in range as I get Bonanza. No sign of M in B yet.

@EJMB I tested a rescan with B1.2 using 'Current transmitter', this only did main mux, it missed out the LBS mux on CH51. For info in case this may be an issue for B2. Resolved by doing limited scan using Green range.

Further investigation indicates that the mux name is region dependent, so I will just use "Local".

I hope to formally release version B2 soon which should cope much better with regional variations. After that I do not intend to support B1.2 and updated Freeview.dat files will be aimed at version B2, and may even crash B1.2. If you wish to continue using B1.2, you will need to maintain your own version of Freeview.dat.
