No. New patches have been added in the last month or two.

Thanks for the info. Can you advise how these new patches have improved this version of the firmware.

Look at the patches that were added and go to R2's site to find out what they do. All the information is available. It is recommended you upgrade. Actually 5.14.09+ or even 5.14.09T is not a recommended firmware at all, 5.13.65T is (but doesn't include the Freeview Playback functionality)

You can do this by clicking on the patch list for your machine in the first post of the Firmware Loader thread. Then, in SimonC's deciphering page, each patch has a link to R2-D2's patch page which explains what each patch does.

But in a nutshell - improved reliability Wink.

I wasn't aware that there was an issue with the Description Extender TAP with recommended firmware. What is the problem that you're seeing?

btw, if you use the Firmware Loader, you can ask it to remove the Te patch by copying the patch to /ProgramFiles/InstallerFirmware/Remove on the Toppy before doing the update, and the loader will remove that patch from the recommended f/w as it does the installation.

DE complains it's not compatible with the firmware and doesn't load. Nigel's post suggests that removing Te isn't straightforward, unfortunately, but I haven't tried.

Thanks for the update, Nigel

Running 5.13.65T (Toppy.org 'Recommended' firmware) since last week. It is VITAL to update to the latest Quickjump if one runs this TAP or it nukes the Toppy.

There are on-screen info advantages and it generally seems OK, but I think I lost about three WEEKLY timers after they were first set.

It is possible that there is a gremlin, albeit pretty minor. I will report back if it repeats.

Time to vent my frustration.

I have a just received a 5800 (not a 5800t). I have downloaded the latest firmware TF5800PVR_456-458_5.14.09Plus and installed the firmware. On the flashing end I recycled the toppy using the standby button the the remote, performed a factory reset and scanned for channels.

Surprise surprise it found ITV as channel 1!!!! BBC1 was in the 1000s. read the website again and checked I uploaded the correct version. Tried to upload the other version that was refused straight away. Tried downgrading the firmware though every version right down to Bastille Day and that still found BBC1 in the 1000s. Tried NITFIX that that found the BBC1 in the 1000s!!!! I forgot what version I ran successfully before messing this up. After each reboot I performed a factory reset. I was even more frustrated after reading the "plus" version was meant to resolve the very problem I was experiencing!

My mother has had a few problems with channels disappearing as her transmitter has just gone though the digital switchover. As far as I know Emley moor transmitter in Yorkshire isn't going to be switched over until 2011 - therefore it can't be that!

Please help me before I go over to the dark side of Humax.

Try reading this thread from the beginning and note the word 'recommended'.

Not recommended. See the Firmware page on toppy.org, and download and install the recommended firmware with Windows installer from this link. Then Factory Reset and rescan for channels again.

Just for the record, it sounds as though either your firmware update(s) or the Factory Reset hasn't worked up until now.

I tried the firmware upgrade again this morning and it seems to have taken. All channels are in their right places and the series link feature seems to be working ok. Oddly I didn't do anything that I didn't do earlier.

Fingers crossed Wink

F5800PVR_456-458_5.14.09Plus seems to be going well. Series recordings etc with no problems. As I have about 15 timers set on series record a thought crossed my mind. When the hard drive is full does older recordings get cleared to create space for new recordings or are recordings stopped until space on the disk is available?

Please can you stop posting about a non recommended firmware in the recommended firmware thread! Start a new thread in the general discussions or newbie thread. By the way, the answer is you have to delete recordings to make space unless you use a TAP.
