Downloaded and installed very smoothly.

Thanks for excellent, clear step-by -step instructions

I can't seem to get this update to transfer. I've definitely got a connection with the Toppy as I can use Altair (though, of course, I close this before trying to transfer the firmware). I open TFDN USB, select the .tfd file, press 'Download', then it says "Wait Download". I then turn the Toppy on, and it just boots as normal (C4.56 -> 'run').

What could I possibly be doing wrong? Embarassed

Have I got this right? - You need to click the download button on the TFDN_USB program BEFORE you turn on the Topfield, then you turn on the Topfield and the download starts?
That is correct. Smile

That sounds like just what I did - but mine was text-book.

Have you tried that all-time all-purpose cure-all fall-back of pulling out your USB cable and replugging it?

Thanks for your reply. That prompted me to try another USB port (a USB1 port!) and it worked. New software now installed. Very Happy

Anyone notice a problem with aspect ratios and this update.

TV is a widescreen set to auto switch.

Watching ITV presently a widescreen broadcast of some quiz.

On Sky+ TV correctly idents it as wide and displays properly.

On Toppy TV idents as wide, but the picture is stretched vertically and does not fit screen.

same with a prog currently on Chan 4.

I was beginning to wonder that myself ...

I can't seem to use the zero button to change ratios as before (or have I fogotten something?)

Did you set the aspect ratio back to 16:9 after doing the factory reset?

Ah yes ... that would be it!
(Worth adding to the FAQ / Guidebook!)

If that ones aimed at me, then yes everything set up as it should be.

There is definitely a problem, viewing Channel 4 currently, which is being dispalyed properly via my Sky+, and Fusion, but it is definitely stretched on the Toppy.

(Jim, my Zero button still changes ratios)

How crucial is it to do a factory reset? I manage to pick up 2 transmitters (Guildford and Crystal Palace), and don't fancy going through and deleting all the unwanted channels again.

Didn't perform one after the last upgrade and have no problems, is there something specific this time that requires it?

Performing a factory reset is often recommended after firmware upgrades of any types (mobile phone, etc). I think much of the concept is theoretical, though I always feel happier performing a factory reset. That said, I wouldn't (personally) say it's crucial.

A factory reset is not essential, just recommended good practise. But I didn't do one with the test firmware (5.11.99) and I had that running for several days with no ill effects.

As for the aspect ratio, working fine here, as far as I can see. No problems on BBC, ITV or C4.

Nigel.

Barry, did you disturb your scart connections when you did the upgrade? Perhaps pin 8 is not making a connection?
