Therefore, since I have not specified it in EPG2MEI.ini I assume it is being included ... which leaves me with the same problem of channel 85 not shown in MyStuff EPG. Sad

I don't understand why this is so, or what I should do to fix it.

22-23
26-27

36-69
73-79

[Restrict]

  8 = 1800-1900
  9 = 1900-0600

 15 = 0945-0400
 17 = 1800-2330
 19 = 0700-0300

As I've already said, delete the others and keep this one. The version in /ProgramFiles/Settings is the one that EPG2MEI will be using anyway.

Having said that, channel 80 (BBC News) is neither excluded nor restricted. You may need to turn on logging to determine what's happening. Either add the line Debug=On in the [Control] section, or change Debug=Off to Debug=On. It'll produce a fairly lengthy text file starting next time you reboot.

Just out of curiosity, where are the other two ini files?

Julie

Sorry for being dense ... but:

The contents that I show above with the [Restrict] section are neither in EPG2MEI.ini, nor in EPG2MEIforRT.ini. They are in Extend.ini which as far as I understand is the configuration file for the extend tap.

Are you implying that EPG2MEI will also read the extend tap configuration file and use any sections therein to decide which LCNs to scan/merge and which not?

You also said, that the EPG2MEI.ini is the only file accessed. Therefore, leaving the EPG2MEIforRT.ini where it is should not affect the behaviour of the EPG2MEI function.

Anyway, I have now removed the EPG2MEIforRT.ini and turned on debugging to see if it tells us anything useful.

Thanks again for your help.

Apologies - my mistake. Both TAPs are written by R2-D2 and have very similar-looking ini files. And I was misled by the fact that you posted its contents in a thread about EPG2MEI Wink.

What you could do is run the Channel Organiser TAP. Don't do a scan, don't delete any channels (unless you want to), but do select the options it offers to update the config files for all the other TAPs you use. It will do this based on the channels you have on your Toppy.

Keeping or deleting EPG2MEIforRT.ini will have no effect on anything, so you may as well delete it to avoid any confusion.

Julie

No probs. I have removed the EPG2MEIforRT.ini, after I copied its contents into the EPG2MEI.ini.

This is what EPG2MEI.log shows:

At this point, we probably need R2-D2

I get an EPG for LCN 85

Please clarify:-
1) Does LCN 85 show in the MyStuff EPG?
2) If yes to 1), does it dsiplay "No information"
3) Does the native EPG contain information for LCN 85

Aha! Geoff's post prompted an idea:

In the MyStuff EPG, press Opt, and cycle round until you get "All Channels".
Do you see the missing information then? If so, what settings do you have for
    Channel Lists/Favourites/Radio Support
    W1: Default Channel List
    W2: TV Channel List
    W3: Radio Channel
If W1/W2 in particular are Favourites files, if they don't include the channels you're interested in, that will be why you don't see them in the EPG.

So it's time to get back to clarifying what the basic problem is:
Do you see the channels in the MyStuff EPG, but with "No information" in them (for some or all of the time)?
or
Do you simply not see some of the channels at all?

If the former, it's (probably) an EPG2MEI issue.
If the latter, it's almost certainly an issue with your MyStuff Favourites files or your W settings.

Julie

No, Russia Today (sorry if I called it by mistake Russia Times in previous posts - I didn't know what its full name is! ) still shows as "No Information"

I think you mean V1,2,3?

The Default Channel List in V1 is My Favourites (which BTW includes Russia Today); the TV Channel List in V2 is All TV; the Radio Channel in V3 is All Radio.

I see Russia Times, Al Jazzera and others which I have not included in rt2mei.cfg showing "No Information" for any time of the day/day of the week. This is so whenever I have looked at it.

I can see the channels in My Favourites and/or All Channels and/or All TV but they show not contents in MyStuff EPG. Just "No Information". On the other hand they all show program contents in the native Topfield EPG.

OK, I suspect then that it is an EPG2MEI problem.

As I was going through the list of menu options to answer your question about favourite settings, I noticed under R5 that I have set it to scan for EPG to "Off". Could this be the problem, or is this setting only applicable to running a scan on a preset timer (as I originally thought)?

Sorry - picked the wrong Toppy to paste the settings from. A new section has been introduced for MS6.5 which we're testing internally.

So we probably need R2-D2 to interpret the log file.

No, that's not the problem. That setting effectively sets a watch timer to wake the Toppy up for long enough to collect EPG data. But if the Toppy's being switched on regularly, it's not needed.

One thing to try:
Delete MyStuff.mei and EPG.mei, and then reboot and leave the remote alone for 20-30 minutes. NB: There's no need to update EPG2MEI.ini - mine's set to merge with rt2mei data, but it never gets any.

Do you see the EPG data for the "missing" channels if EPG2MEI is ONLY using the OTA data?

i.e. what happens if we take rt2mei merging out of the equation for the time-being?

Julie

P.S. Have you tried using Channel Organiser to update your EPG2MEI.ini file yet?

I've remove all EPG.mei and MyStuff.mei files. Rebooted. A new EPG.mei and EPG.raw files were created after a few minutes had passed.

I looked into them and could see Russia Times program content had been downloaded.

Pressed on Guide and got an error: "No EPG data available. Please check your Settings" (or something similar). The EPG that came up was the native Topfield EPG which showed all channels and program contents.

So, I guess no rt2mei means no EPG in MyStuff. I have not yet installed or ran the Channel Organiser tap, but will do this later on tonight just it makes any odds.

I am reloading the rt2mei EPG now, since I would not like to miss any programmed recordings.

You didn't wait long enough for the EPG to be generated - it takes about 30 minutes with no keypresses from the remote control

You need to leave the Toppy alone for 20-30 minutes without pressing the remote to give EPG2MEI time to collect and generate the OTA EPG data.

So, remove MyStuf.mei and EPG.mei again, and give it another go, but this time, go and make a cup of tea or your lunch, and leave it long enough to work.

MickKi wrote:

It would take a week or so with no MyStuff EPG before you started missing recordings, so there's no need to panic.

The timers will still have been set (go and have a look at the them in the native UI if you need to reassure yourself), even though MyStuff doesn't have any EPG info to show you.

If you get no data in MyStuff's EPG when you're not using rt2mei data, it's either because you haven't left it long enough to get any OTA data, or because there's a problem getting data at all (which is what we need to investigate if that's the case - you can't get merged data if there's no data to merge in the first place).

The other possibility is that you don't have option R1 set correctly in MyStuff. It should be
R1: EPG Source Filename=EPG.mei.

Julie
