I have a Finnish TF5100PVRt (HDMI) and have installed Mystuff 6.4 having formatted the drive and carried out a factory reset. I have pruned the channel list using TopSet. I tried using EPG2EMI but mystuff displays the channel logo's in the correct order but the program listings are wrong for the channel names.

Looking at the log I get the following information;

EPG2MEI: rl=0 e1=8011AACC e2=8011ABF0 e3=0 e4=801493A4 da=0 utc=80138E90
EPG2MEI: usb=800A9D24 ce=801AC5E8 cs=801AC58C sm=8012B5AC ab=801A3D9C del=0 gnr=80134570
EPG2MEI: Unsupported firmware SysID=13416 ApplID=1479

Is it possible for EPG2EMI to be modified to cope with my firmware?

I am using eit2emi and while it works it does not appear to harvest the program information as efficiently.

Robert

Hi All,

I'm trying to understand what's amiss with my set up. I'm using rt2mei to update the MyStuff EPG. However, some programmes/channels do not seem to get updated.

I noticed that Russia Times for example is not listed in the Radio Times LCNs, so fair enough there is no rt2mei update for it. On the other hand BBC1 or BBC Parliament is included in the Radio Times feed, but I get News programmes on BBC1 and the occasional programme in BBC Parliament showing "No information is available".

Now, if I switch over to the native Topfield EPG I can see that such descriptions (e.g. for the News programmes, or Russia Times and so on) are available - but this is not shown in the MyStuff EPG. Shouldn't EPG2MEI bring it across to MyStuff, or am I understanding this mechanism wrong?

BTW, I seem to have two EPG2MEI.ini files:
Code:
-rw-r--r--   1 none     none              226 Oct 30 15:40 EPG2MEI.ini
-rw-r--r--   1 none     none              137 Oct 30 15:47 EPG2MEIforRT.ini
Is this how it should be, or am I meant to only keep EPG2MEIforRT.ini since I am using rt2mei?

Grateful for any pointers.

PS. I also noticed that the MyStuff menu shows Z2, Z3 & Z4 greyed out.

I'm guessing that you created the EPG2MEIforRT.ini. EPG2MEI certainly won't be looking at it. What would be more useful to know is the content of the files.

Amongst other things, the EPG2MEI.ini file has a list of included and excluded channels that EPG2MEI collects OTA information for (including times of day for some channels), so if the News channels are in the exclude list, that would be why you're not getting any EPG info for them. It could be, for instance, that the LCNs for the channels have changed, but your EPG2MEI.ini file hasn't been updated to match. NB: The Channel Organiser TAP can help with that. Its main use it to delete unwanted channels, but it also automatically updates various config files for TAPs, according to the channels that you keep.

So the first step will be to post a copy of the contents of EPG2MEI.ini so that we can see what EPG2MEI has been instructed to do.

NB: If you have multiple copies of EPG2MEI.ini, delete the duplicates, and just leave the one that's in /ProgramFiles/Settings.

I think EPG2MEIforRT.ini is being created by the MyStuff installation program. This is an extract from someone's installer log file:-
Code:
Line 116: LoadFiles:S http://www.toppy.org.uk/~chunkywizard/TAPDownload/MyStuff64.zip
Downloading latest version from the internet
Unzipping downloaded files
Successfully unzipped and stored 9 files: DescriptionExtender.tap, EPG2MEI.ini, EPG2MEI.tap, EPG2MEIforRT.ini, logo.dat, MyStuff_FreshInstall.dat, RemoteExtender.tap, smlogo.dat, MyStuff.tap,
Line 122: ShowMessage:Installing EPG2MEI.tap
Installing EPG2MEI.tap

I've never used the installer so I don't know what happens to EPG2MEIforRT.ini by the time it has finished (it possibly may be renamed, or deleted).

I stand corrected. I'd guess there's a question at some point that asks whether you use it, and if so, copies/renames it to EPG2MEI.ini

It obviously doesn't get rid of the original EPG2MEIforRT.ini though! Or something went wrong. Either way, EPG2MEI will be looking for EPG2MEI.ini not EPG2MEIforRT.ini. It doesn't know you want to use RT data until after it's opened the file and read the contents.

One for the installer thread Wink.

I do not use the installer either (I don't have a PC with MSWindows).

I would have probably gone through the install script and saw what it copies over/where as billmars shows and then done it manually. I can certainly copy the contents of EPG2MEIforRT.ini into EPG2MEI.ini and get rid of EPG2MEIforRT.ini.

When I had a look in both of these files I did not see any included/excluded channels. Will post the contents when I get home later on tonight.

BTW, are Z2, Z3 & Z4 meant to be greyed out?

... and already answered in response to your posts in the rt2mei thread:

Option Z4 is only required if you're using eit2mei. It's not necessary with EPG2MEI because the data collection is done in a different way, and MyStuff receives a message from EPG2MEI whenever new data is available, so there's never any need to "force" a scan if you're using EPG2MEI. That is why the option is greyed out. (The same applies to the others.)

Ohh! Yes you did, but I misread your answer. Sorry for the noise!

Here's where we are then. The EPG2MEI.ini contains this:
Code:
[Control]
Output=EPG  # Note: this is temporary and the output will eventually be EPG.mei
EuroDST
External=MyStuff
Demangle
MergeExt
UseExtGenre
#AddExtendedInfo
StripDups
Debug=Off
DescSeparator=
DescTerminator=

While the EPG2MEIforRT.ini contains this:
Code:
[Control]
Output=EPG
EuroDST
External=MyStuff
Demangle
MergeExt
UseExtGenre
StripDups
Debug=Off
DescSeparator=
DescTerminator=

Functionally they are identical.
You may need a section headed [Restrict] which includes LCN numbers and transmission times, e.g.
Code:

[Restrict]
7=1900-0530
9=1900-0530

The PcControl menus in TopManager 4.0 will populate/maintain the [Restrict] section in the EPG2MEI.ini file (assuming you have a windows pc)

@MickKi
If you have a windows pc, you can use TopManager to access the toppy through the NSLU (but you probably need to say you want "Indy FTP" when you create the connection)

Cheers
Geoff

Mickki, if you look at the first post in this thread:-http://forum.toppy.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=175816#175816 you will see there is a link to a readme.txt file which has all the information you may need.

I'm afraid I don't have a PC with MSWindows on it.

Will I need such a [Restrict] section even if I do not intend to restrict any channels at this stage?

I just checked the contents of /ProgramFiles/EPG.mei and the Russia Times programmes are listed in there; e.g.
Code:
000197|201204170130|201204170200|85|Capital Account with Lauren Lyster|||||||At the intersection of markets, politics and the global economy is Capital Account with Lauren Lyster.|News|30||||||||||||46041
000175|201204170200|201204170300|85|The Alyona Show|||||||Based in RT's Washington DC Bureau, Alyona Minkovski covers the stories no one else dares to touch.|News|60||||||||||||46042
000272|201204170300|201204170330|85|Latest News and Interviews|||||||Latest news update. And Sophie Shevardnadze interviews major newsmakers, leading politicians, international art figures and innovative scientists. For more information go to www.rt.com.|News|30||||||||||||46043

So, if the info is in there and the native Topfield EPG shows the Russia Times channel programmes, the question perhaps should be why is MyStuff showing "No Information"?

I have a file /ProgramFiles/Settings/Extend.ini with a [Restrict] section in it showing things like:
Code:
[Control]
PrePad = 2
PostPad = 6

[Exclude]
8
16-17
22-23
26-27
32
34
36-69
73-79
81
86-99

[Restrict]
  7 = 1900-0600
  8 = 1800-1900
  9 = 1900-0600
 12 = 0600-1800
 15 = 0945-0400
 17 = 1800-2330
 19 = 0700-0300
...

Should I add this [Restrict] section in the EPG2MEI.ini?

Thanks billmars, I have read this already. It says:
Quote:
An LCN will included if it is
specified in the [Include] section (or there is no [Include] section) and not
excluded in the [Exclude] section (or there is no [Exclude] section).

So since I do not have [Include], [Exclude], or [Restrict] sections I assumed that it will scan and include all LCNs. Have I understood this wrong?

When I coded TopManager, R2-D2 said
Quote:

Each section should be specified only once (I think the extra ones will be ignored).
Excluding an LCN overrides including it (regardless of the order of the sections).
It's then pointless to restrict an excluded LCN.

i.e. if channel not specified if it is included. If mentioned in more than one section, [Exclude] takes precedence over [Restrict] which takes precedence over [Include]

Geoff
