Hi Folks,

This is the thread to discuss the MyStuff recommended firmwares. The following are the current recommendations:

TF5800 and TF5800t
5.13.65AbBfBqCeCkCpCwCyDeEcEeEfEpErEsFGmHHeKtMhNfOtPPcRRaReRhRpRsSSdSlSrStSyT2TdTeTfTpTsXpXw

TF5810
5.15.09AbAfBfBqC0CeCkCpCwDeEcEfEgEmEpErEsEvFGmHHeKtMhNfOtPcPeRRaRhRmRpRsSSdSfSlSrSxTdTeTfTpTqTtXw

The recommended way to install these firmwares is either with the MyStuff Installer, which will also allow you to update MyStuff and support TAPs, or the FirmwareLoader Option 2, which will just flash and go.

If you can't use the Installer or Firmware Loader (e.g. you have a Mac) then you need to add some MyStuff-specific patches to the Toppy.org Recommended Firmware.

On a 5800 the patches you need to add are:
[Ab], [De], [Re], [Cp], [Te] and [Sl].

On a 5810 the patches you need to add are:
[Ab], [Cp], [Pe], [Te] and [Sl].

You can add the patches using either the HDFW or FWLoad TAP.

This post will be updated whenever changes are made. Many thanks to the stirling work of R2-D2 for the patches and to EMJB for the Installer/ Fwload technology.

Cheers

CW

Any firmware/install recommendations for the TF5810 users wanting to use My Stuff?

I know there is only one official firmware (beta out there somewhere), but I thought I read that remote extender should not be installed for example. Also heard that certain buttons will not work when using MyStuff on the TF5810 - not sure which ones don't work though, or if there is a workaround?

I have lived with the native EPG for a few weeks, but now feel the time is right to change to My Stuff (which gets great reviews from most Toppy users from what I have read)

So far, I am aware of these 2 links for Taps and Firmware patches that Aramil has tested.

Hi Andrew,

you are right, the Re patch is not recommended for use with the 5810. Aramil seems to be the best tester of patches at the moment so I would work with him to understand which of the recommended patches for the 5800 are applicable for the 5810. By all means report back here and if I get enough takers I can update the installer to install different firmwares for the 5800 and 5810.

Regards

CW

There is currently no recommended firmware for the TF5810, patched or otherwise.

The best recommendation for someone who wants to buy a 5810 is don't. Buy a 5800 instead!

As usual, I jump in "to get the latest" piece of kit thinking that, as this is the next generation, previous faults would have been ironed out. Big mistake.

TBH, if it wasn't for the "nice display" on the 5810, I would have bought a 5800 anyway.

I am thinking of "mothballing" the 5810 and buying a new 5800.

At the end of the day it's a PVR. It's designed to record and play programmes - simple. It doesn't do that. Not for me.

Interestingly, I can chase play all night without a hitch. But relying on it to record is very hit and miss and I cannot trust it.
It has got to the point I am setting the timer on my Panasonic DMR 95 (HDD Freeview) recorder to "double up" just in case the Toppy fails.

At least with the Rs patch I only loose the part of the recording from where it stopped and not the whole lot.

I keep flashing the f/w back and forth from 15.08 to 13.65 as you can tell from the constant changes in my sig!

Spleen vented... Smile

Hi Folks,

due to enhancements in patching technology* the MyStuff recommended firmware has been upgraded to 1365BfBqCyDeEcErFHMhPPcPfRReRpST2XpXw

This is available from the link in my sig and also as part of the MyStuff Installer

It is also recommended to install the EITDupFix TAP in Auto Start to complement the Ec patch. If you use the installer this is done automagically.

Cheers

What are the Ec, Er and Pf patches? They aren't mentioned on the patches page and aren't in the Patches2 folder.

Cheers,

If you click the link, I.E. 1365BfBq.... it takes you to a decipher page from where it will tell you what they do.

HTH.

PatchPackV2 and In Development tables are normally reasonably up-to-date, unless you're after bleeding edge stuff.

You can now reference a patch by either of the main pages and it'll redirect if necessary. For example: [Er] is not on the main Patches page and [Bf] is no longer 'In Development'.

Can you make this a sticky thread? Even as a frequent forum reader I find it hard to keep up with the astonishing rate of progress being made.

The [Er] link didn't work for me (yet)...

This should mean SimonC can genericaly add links for new patches and link to them even before they are invented on his page, then even if he gets them as development & they are in preduction they will still work, even before he has added the name.

Can someone please let me know what features/functions will not work when using MyStuff on the TF5810 please (key mapping problems I think)? Is there a workaraound, or it it just minor things that will not work that you can live with?

Thanks, Andrew.

I suggest you start a new thread for this or do a site search as I think this has been discussed before.

Ok, I realise it has been discussed before, sorry if I am asking this question in the wrong forum.

I guess I was hoping for a sticky 'recommended config for TF5810' post for using MyStuff on the TF5810.

It might read, don't use Re, red button doesn't work due to key mapping problems, discuss any other functionality that works differently or not at all on the TF5810 when compared to the TF5800, e.t.c. - All the key points distilled from related posts, accessible in one place.

Where would be the right forum to ask this question?

Andrew.
