However it is possible that a set of circumstances may lead to FontManager receiving some duff data which leads to a crash.

And this would lead to the scrambled fonts? I see.

OK, let's leave this issue for now as it seems to be affecting nobody but me. Shocked

If noone else is experiencing random crashes then I will probably just reinstall all my TAPs from scratch (or at least delete all their settings files) and see if the problem goes away.

Despite last night's rant, I decided to try and break the damn thing anyway. And I tried hard Laughing

I couldn't, although I'm pretty sure the remote buttons are a little more broken this morning. No crashes here, guvn'r!

Glen.

Public relations, what's that then? Putting a smiley at the end of a comment? Cool

You're certainly not trying hard enough, then. Razz

There's a limit to my "public spirited" nature. In addition I value my sanity - what little remains of it!

Thanks Glen,

That is very helpful. If your sig is up to date (as it looks like) I will load up my Toppy with the same set of TAPs and patches and see what happens.

Remember to get your TAP load order the same and don't forget you have a 400gb disk and Glen has a 250gb one which means that the Toppy firmware/patches/TAPs may have timing issues due to cluster/sector/... differences.

Thanks Glen! Thanks Jumbo!

I reordered my TAPS as per glen's installation, removed a (hopefully now unnecessary) MHEG memory fix TAP, and now my Toppy seems to be crashproof!

Let's put it down to one of those funnies....

Are the bug fixes applicable to MyStuff only or possibly other taps too? If the latter then would it possible to give an indication of the nature of bugs to help with diagnosis of misbehaving toppy/taps.

IIRC all the bugs were redraw or graphic glitch bugs. Note this is the version installed by the MyStuff installer so people using MS6 need not upgrade

If the box crashes and on restarting does a Checking Files & folders when the check has finished Font Manager comes up.
It allows me to select a font but there is no way to exit the screen, I have to switch off and then on again to get rid of it.
