Hi Nigel

Just downloaded a couple of guides, but the download speed dropped from around 35Kb on my 512Kb broadband link to around 15kB, around 3 x dialup.

Is it me, or something else that might need attention your end?

I usually get around 58Kb.

Regards

I'm not aware of any particular issue; can you tell me which guides they were? Some of them aren't actually hosted on the server here, but are merely links to copies elsewhere.

Nigel.

They were:-

Make_DVD.pdf - the one highlighted from your news page.
Configure_NSLU2.pdf - from the User Contributed Guide Section.

The Make_DVD document downloaded slightly faster than the smaller Configure_NSLU2 document.

Regards

Both those are hosted elsewhere; if other people are experiencing slow speeds downloading them, we can look at putting copies on the server here, if Malc is happy with that.

Nigel.

Just been back to look more closely at the source and as you say they're hosted elsewhere. Sorry to waste your time.

Regards

The files are hosted on Eclipse which is normally fast. I've tried it and get 20k/s so perhaps there is some work going on. I put them there since I have 50M of space most of which is not doing anything so it seemed better to use that than use Nigel's bandwidth.

I'd suggest we see if the problem clears itself in the next few days. I've no objection to the files being hosted here but as I said my 50M is going to waste so it seems a shame not to use it.

I've just check this and it would seem that it isn't 50M but 20M and it is rate limited to 32k/s and 25 users. I was sure it used to be more than that so perhaps they have changed things.
