Another demonstration of my ignorance.
I have just downloaded and installed the timer-extend tap.Starting it does absolutely nothing.
Q What should happen?
Q There are a number of items in the "download",which of them should be sent to the Toppy?

If you have not already seen it, there is a pdf file on the guides page of this site, which explains the basics of TAP installation.

You can find it here:

http://www.toppy.org.uk/documents/Installing%20TAPs%20-%20Windows.pdf

Hope this helps.

Open the timerlist screen and look on the bottom right, there is a display there that shows extra information about the selected timer

Open the timerextend menu and select sort timers (you can also set timer sort to auto), go back to the timerlist. Your timers are now sorted by time/date. Very userfull if you have 50 timers!

Read the readme.txt, timer extend can do more, some things like repairing the times you hope never to encounter.

Transfer from pc to toppy seemed ok.Starting extend tap produced message saying "starting"

BUT there's no sign of any extra activity or added "extend" instructions.
Any ideas ?

I don't use this TAP myself, but if you check in the zip file folder you downloaded/extracted, there is a README.txt document which gives some instructions. Have you already read this?

Tony provides excellent instructions in his readme.txt file included with the .zip package. Here?s an extract:

?For Menu access, Hit "EXIT" during normal player operation. If you are running other TAPs, they should cascade the exit key to this TAP when you select "next TAP" or "cancel" in each TAP. This is TSR_commander compatible now, and thus you can hit the UHF key to open the TSR_Commander window which will let you configure multiple taps.?

Who needs to read instructions? When i gave up and read them, all became clear and i pressed "exit".All unfolded before me and i can now record the end of BBC films.
Thankyou all for for your advice.
