I updated it after I read your post, I still had TM open and connected to my Toppy so probably would have got any notification.
I did get the usual notification when I initially started TM to do the update & retune.

Thanks. Just updated them and rescanned.

The MUX on channel 33 currently seems to have disappeared off Emley Moor again , so I lost a few channels, mostly Channel 5's sister channels, as well as Quest, etc. But I couldn't record off them anyway as they're often poor quality, so I often record the HD versions on the youview box

Just been checking through the latest updates to the Freeview channel listing.

The channel numbering update is easy enough to do but it might appear that ceegeebee has gone offline now and his valuable updates appear to be no longer available. Is anyone likely to have the relevant SvcId, etc. information should there be any future updates/new channels, such as GB News coming next year? Or possibly a latest freeview.dat file.

I have two of the 5800 Toppies running - despite having bought a (crappy) Humax 12 months ago - which I though would be an improvement on the Toppy - but no. Whoever wrote THAT software didn't know what he was doing. Awful! And the tuning - don't mention the tuning. I can receive three main stations and it always seems to pick the weakest (not my) region to tune to. Rubbish machine!

Long live my two Toppies!

The easiest way to update these files is through the TopManager Tools| Install Files interface. Each time TM opens a connection to a toppy, it checks to see if the versions on the toppy need to be updated (this assumes that the computer running TM has access to the internet) i.e run TM to see if new versions are available and also to download/install them for you (no need to remember websites or do manual downloading/transfer of files).

Your signature looks pretty ancient (as is mine). In particular, it doesn't show if the PruneEPG tap is present. I suggest you install TM and use it to display your MyInfo Log; then copy and paste into a new thread (not this one). The log might show something else you should address.

It appears that ITV+1 (LCN 34) uses different SvcIds in the different regions (thanks to dgc188 for providing information from his system); I was under the impression that a common number was used for this channel).

I have just uploaded a new version of Freeview.dat which uses SvcId=-1 for LCN 34; this allows ChannelOrganiser to accept any value for the SvcId.

Note: TM/PcControl/Channel Management uses a different mechanism from CO and would have automatically adjusted for the discovered SvcId.

Those who use TM will be alerted to the new version of the file when they next run TM. If you have already re-tuned since 04-Nov-20 then no retune is necessary (just use Tools| Install Files to download the latest version to avoid getting the message each time you run TM).

Freeview(Scotland) is not affected.

Just a quick note than the Scottish version of Freeview.dat isn't quite right - local is on LCN 8 here, BBC ALBA (on LCN 7) is on PSB1, but Freeview.dat expects it on the local mux. Strangely, the entiy for STV+1 is correct, but LCN 3 should be STV, not ITV here (well, in STV-land, not in the border region!).

I made a few updates that seem to keep everything happy...

That's because you are using TopManager to do the tuning; TM adapts to what it discovers whereas CO checks that the fields are exactly as stated in the Freeview.dat file (I remember that EMJB didn't agree that my method was correct!).

When changing the files, I use the CO output to identify the lines that need changing so it does have some uses.

Thanks for the explanation, that will be why you wanted a copy of my TM_SvcIdMap.txt Smile
I find using TM for updates/rescans much easier and quicker, I can do it all remotely from my PC or laptop, don't need to go near the Toppy, I could even (and did on several occasions) do it from a rig 300 miles offshore Cool

Up until now, I have managed Freeview.dat and Freeview(Scotland).dat as two separate files. After changing Freeview.dat, I had to apply the same changes to the Scottish version - a real pain because there is so much information on each line making it difficult to find the required fields and eyeballing the files to ensure they are similar.

During the Xmas break, I have created a program to generate these files from a common input file. Note: the program still has to generate two versions of the input file (I didn't want to modify the ChannelOrganiser tap or TopManager).

Merging into a single file has has allowed me to simplify the format making it easier for me to see the important fields e.g. RtCode is no longer used so it can be omitted from each input line (it still needs to be present in the file for CO). I can now also ensure that there are no simple errors like duplicate entries (LCNs, Names, SvcIds, etc), invalid numbers or unrecognised keys/values. This means that the generated files are less likely to have mistypes.

Because the files are now generated for each variant, I have been able to remove the mucky comment lines flagging the differences between the versions (these were put in solely for me to to identify the bits that needed modifying).

Should it be necessary, I could easily modify the program to generate a Welsh variant of the Freeview file (I'd rather not - but could if someone required it)

The fields in Freeview.dat that are likely to differ from your previous file are:

RtCode=0
These values are all 0 (The Radio Times Epg feed has not worked for a couple of years). [update] Looking at the previous files, I see that I had already set these values to 0 [/update]

Type='TV,Radio,Web TV,Text,Int TV,Pay TV'
CO ignores anything other than values in the above list ie it was ignoring a PPV TV (PayPerView TV) value

HasEpg=1
I've defaulted this for every LCN on the basis that channels need to advertise that they exist.
This may or not be true - I haven't checked out the Porn Channels (honest!)

StartTime=0000, EndTime=0000
I've defaulted this for every LCN on the basis that, during periods when they are not broadcasting, the Epg still shows something like "This is ...".
This means that, should a station change it's broadcast hours, no adjustment will need to made to the Epg collection times stored in EPG2MEI.ini
Note: Channels that are not currently broadcasting will still show "No Information" entries until they restart broadcasting; this is an EPG2MEI issue (not the fault of MyStuff)

The only time I think we would need the StartTime and EndTime keywords again is when a channel is known to be broadcasting incorrect Epg information. For example, a few years ago, a 24 hour Virgin channel had a +1 channel that shutdown for part of the night. Unfortunately, because it used the same full 24 hour EPG (adjusted by 1 hour), this caused issues because MyStuff occasionally chose an alternative +1 programme during this 'dead' period.

Content
The code in CO only considers the first key value (and a possible "+1"). This means that previously, those entries with multiple values like "Entertainment,Shopping" were just being recognised as "Entertainment".
I have moved these extra values into a comment at the end of the line.

Editing the files yourself
If necessary, you can make changes to these files (please let me know what you changed and why).
Just edit the files as before using something like Notepad.
The file should be easier to read because I have added judicious spaces to the values to help the keywords line up in columns (when editing the file, don't forget that each Key name, apart from LCN=, needs a tab character immediately before it)

Was it worth it?
In terms of time spent creating the program versus time maintaining two separate files - No.
In terms of giving me a challenge - Yes.

fhjones found that his toppy was displaying the native EPG rather than the MyStuff one.
After much effort and reformatting on his part, it turned out that EPG2MEI.ini had [Excludes] for each scanned channel. (Extend.ini probably also has these excludes as it uses the same processing code).

Investigating, I see that TM is looking for <tab>HasEPG=1<tab> to see whether or not a channel should be excluded. Unfortunately, this doesn't match because my reformatted file has spaces after the 1 (to aid alignment of fields).

As a temporary measure, I have regenerated the Freeview files without these additional spaces. So, if you need to rescan with TM, make sure that you use the latest version of the file (15 Jan 2021). As far as I know, CO will work with my aligned fields file or the squeezed one.

In the very near future, I need to provide an updated version of TM. This is because Google Sites (who provide the GeeCeeBee website) is changing from "Classic Google Sites" to "New Google Sites". A new version is required because the existing released versions of TM will not be able to find web files on the new site.

Many apologies to fhjones (and anyone else who has been affected)

So which verson of Freeview.dat causes the problem ?
My Freeview(Scotland).dat is dated 28/12/20 but I can't remember if I rescanned when I updated it.
MyStuff EPG is working properly
