OK - but I can't understand how a manual load fails (for me) and TM succeeds (for him).

Maybe the OP needs to try a manual download and report what happens.

So you advocate ignoring security warnings about files, most odd.

I didn't say that, I use different SMARTER software that doesn't mark files as suspect just because they don't get downloaded at lot

Quote:
If a file you are about to download is known by SmartScreen to be downloaded by a reasonably large number of people and considered to be safe, it lets you download it without any warnings. If a file has not been downloaded much by others or, a small number of people downloaded it, then it warns that it might not be a safe thing to do.

So why are you ignoring these other checks?

Quote:
SmartScreen helps protect you in three ways:
•As you browse the web, it analyzes pages and determines if they might be suspicious. If it finds suspicious pages, SmartScreen will display a warning page, giving you an opportunity to provide feedback and advising you to continue with caution.
•SmartScreen checks the sites you visit against a dynamic list of reported phishing sites and malicious software sites. If it finds a match, SmartScreen will show you a warning letting you know that the site has been blocked for your safety.
•SmartScreen checks files that you download from the web against a list of reported malicious software sites and programs known to be unsafe. If it finds a match, SmartScreen will warn you that the download has been blocked for your safety. SmartScreen also checks the files that you download against a list of files that are well known and downloaded by many people who use Internet Explorer. If the file that you're downloading isn't on that list, SmartScreen will warn you.

I'm not ignoring any checks, I don't have those checks because I don't use (or have installed) Smartscreen.
I use Avast antivirus and Malwarebytes to provide my security.
Neither of these find anything suspicious about the files and allow me to download and use them.
Just because Smartscreen finds them suspicious doesn't make it so, equally the reverse is true, Avast and Malwarebytes could be wrong. I find I use software I trust, based on experience and recommendation and I've used those 2 programs successfully for many years.
You trust Smartscreen, that's fine, but because it flags the file as suspicious doesn't mean it is or that there is a problem with it, that's all I'm saying Smile

There is a suggestion that file access is the only one used, though.

Try doing a domain health check, it doesn't pass with flying colours.

Who knows what's right or wrong?

GeeCeeBee.co.uk is hosted by google sites; I have no control over how google sites manages the domain settings. The only control I have over the site is it's content and the fact that I have paid for my own name instead of using a googlesites generated one.

Please feel free not to use the site of you don't want to use what it provides!

Geoff
