I truly love the ability of the Topfield/MyStuff to tip-toe through a set of record requests, and find a "working set", resolving clashes.

However, for this to work, alternative transmissions for individual programmes need to exist.

But (AFAIK) alternative transmissions are only detectable/knowable for episodes of a properly marked "series".

This is particularly annoying/problematic for films, which are long enough to cause significant clash issues.

Given the existence of "+1" channels, and the fact that many films are transmitted more than once (I swear Movies4Men only has 20-30 films total!!), the clashes could be easily resolved IF the films were tagged.

So - could "we" petition the broadcasters to do this?

(or is there an easier way to resolve clashes with non-series-but-repeated content?)

What about just setting up a TEXT search for a film from the favourites list, then once its found and recorded delete the search?

As far as a petition goes the broadcasters can't even get episode/series right

That would get you both showings if it's shown on a +1 channel, rather than just whichever one of them doesn't clash.

(BTW, searches can be set to have an expiry date, so technically, you don't even need to delete the search.)

I don't think I understand the problem. If you create a PS for a film, it will record it once and then mark the rest as 'A' or 'D'. I've just done it for the "Railway Man"

The problem is, I hadn't read the manual well enough to understand what a Power Search does...
