A new version of mc2xml was released during the past few days, and is available from the usual place - http://mc2xml.hosterbox.net/ .
See this forum topic, starting at the end of page 2, for further info - http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=3007859&start=15 .
It seems the only way to work out that a new version is available is the change in file size and md5sum: it might be an idea to check the mc2xml webpage from time to time for any future releases. |

@Bizman
I am 95% sure that it will turn out to be a problem in the source data, but will check when I get back to looking at the Schedules Direct data - hopefully in a couple of days. I have noticed quite a few anomalies in this field, and have been wondering whether it is reliable enough to be useful - perhaps the worst example I have noticed is a news programme reported at first shown in 2007!

I notice that the Microsoft Legacy data hasn't been updated since Friday. I will check daily for an update. |

A week has passed and as of midday, no updates have occurred to the Microsoft Legacy data. I shall have to consider subscribing to Schedules Direct if that is stable. |

EMJB wrote: Have signed up for a 7 day free trial of Schedules Direct data (N.B. Select the JSON version in mc2xml.exe), and the good news is that:
(1) xml2mei seems to work OK with that data, and the resulting data has no very obvious problems.
(2) There appears to be additional programme information, but I have not explored this.
(3) The regional selection seemed a bit dodgy, but the end result seems OK for me (Anglia/Sudbury)
(4) Checking the first 35 channels, the LCN's all seem present & correct though the names are a bit funny (notably E4HD & ITV4HD) in places. There are 225 channels all told according to the display!
BUT
there seems to data only to 6 am Saturday 2/7/2016, i.e. for 10 days. However I suppose there is a remote possibility that this could be a limitation of the free trial.
If the data extended to the full 14 days, I would be very tempted to pay up the $25 for a year. Otherwise, I will investigate the additional info before making up my mind.

Has anything significant changed in the past 2½ weeks? The Microsoft legacy source is now more like a historical document and is useless so I need an alternative. Presumably your 7-day free trial expired, did you take a full subscription and if so please explain what does one have to do & where? (I don't use PayPal, nor wish to). |

I was getting fairly optimistic, but a few channels (inc LCN 9 & 10) didn't get updated at the end of last week, so are down to 5.5 days. See here for a spreadsheet showing number of days data for various download times over the last week. Will keep updating this to see what happens. The good news is that it does seems to pick up changes more often - for example the EUFA final teams are correctly identified for BBC1 and ITV1 tonight.
I signed up for 2 months at £4:50. To sign up go to http://www.schedulesdirect.org/ where details of options are given, and select "sign up" on LH side if you wish to proceed. A PayPal account is not essential, but PayPal process normal credit card payments (there is a warning that this might not work outside the USA, but I had no problem with my Mastercard). You then will be prompted for the log-in details when you select SD JSON data in mc2xml.exe.

Maybe MS noticed the surge of new users stealing their data and closed the loophole? |

@EMJB thanks for the details, I will go ahead as an interim measure and see how things develop. |

I don't think so, the guide feed has been hit and miss for a while. Media Center isn't availabke on Windows 10 and the development team disbanded so I don't think Microsoft put much effort into maintaining the feed. So far it has always been fixed after a week or two but the outages are getting more frequent. |

I have registered for a free trial of Schedules Direct, but after entering SD-JSON, postcode & GB I get offered regions for either BSkyB or FreeSat. Shouldn't there be a Freeview option somewhere? |

Shouldn't there be a Freeview option somewhere? It would appear to have disappeared in the last fortnight - I have just renamed my xc2xml.dat and tried mc2xml and only the satellite options were displayed. My xc2xml.dat begins with "Freeview - Anglia (East) (London)", so you could try requesting Freesat data and then modifying the .dat file by hand, though perhaps an email to mc2xml might be a good first step - I got a very quick response when I raised the matter of news programmes apparently having been first shown in 2007.
Incidentally, the missing LCN9 & LCN10 data was inserted sometime during the day, so there is 12 days' data as there would have been if updated on Friday.

I tried your suggestion, but your region with my postcode produced '-g missing' (i.e. postcode). I have e-mailed them. |
