Presumably enabling TLS 1.0 does create the key and removes the initial problem dialog

Correct.

The "manual intervention" amendment, along with the internal decompression, means that the builder should work in all circumstances, so thanks for that.

I'm still puzzled why my main system, running the same level of both XP & Palemoon, runs the builder without manual intervention.

I've never heard of PaleMoon before....... This post indicates that the latest versions don't support XP

I'm a long-time PaleMoon user; I am currently running it on Win10. There is an XP version for Atom processors only, which I use on my netbook.

Perhaps this system has the remnants of Internet Explorer on it?

Well they both have - you can't get rid off it. But the main system was at least upgraded to IE8 at one point, whereas the recently rebuilt system will still have IE6. I suspect this is the relevant difference.

Uploaded 1.4 of the builder - this primarily changes the message displayed if the user is using a browser other than Chrome or IE.

Having some of the problems experienced above (6.4 to 6.6). Using XP3 SP3

Just a taster to see where this goes.

a) Attempted an auto install of everything. Failed on:

Line 224: ShowMessage: Downloading and installing logo files
Downloading and installing logo files
Line 231: LoadFiles:S http://sites.google.com/site/toppylogos/home/dat_logos.zip
Downloading latest version from the internet
Error:Failed to access internet with error report "wininet error # 12039 : (Unknown WININET error # 12039)" -etc

Noted later I could manually access this file in Firefox.

b) Tried again - same problem

c) Tried Option (2) install (No firmware) Manual control. Failed on:

Line 683: ShowMessage: Installing PruneEPG TAP
Installing PruneEPG TAP
Line 684: LoadFiles:S http://www.geeceebee.co.uk/pruneepg/pruneepgdownload/PruneEPG.zip
Downloading latest version from the internet
Error:Failed to access internet with error report "wininet error # 12039 : (Unknown WININET error # 12039)" - etc

Again I could manually access this file in Firefox.

Re your suggestion I tried Topmanager install of PruneEPG. It failed:

Fetching PruneEPG.zip ...
<<< Error collecting http://www.GeeCeeBee.co.uk/pruneepg/pruneepgdownload/PruneEPG.zip
Installation not completed (no files copied to Toppy)

Getting out of my depth now, but:

The registry entry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\SecureProtocols" is missing
In Internet Options, SSL2.0 and 3.0 were enabled, but TLS1.0 was not. I enabled it, rebooted, then the registry entry was created.

TopManager still failed as above

I then manually installed the PruneEPG.tap. Then ran Check MyStuff - all OK except for two errors:

UKDateFOrmatToDateTime failed, input = B5.6 Logging settings unknown time/date

Warning: The MyInfo Log.txt file may not reflect your current configuration
Reason: The file is more than 193 months old

Strange I didn't have this Toppy in 2000 - do I have the Millenium Bug!

The Toppy now seems to be OK, but I'm a bit apprehensive about updating my second one.

Any advice most welcome. Thanks.

Sounds as though you used the normal MyStuff Installer rather than my offline installer.

The offline version collects all the files before you start the installer i.e. you know at the start whether or not there are any errors. It should alos tell you if there is an issue with your access settings and/or possibly manage to download the problem files.

Geoff
PS: I've just checked my offline installer and it successfully fetched all the files.

Thanks Geoff

I now have the Offline installer ZIP which I'll try on the second Toppy in a few days and report back.

Never used to have a problem installing / upgrading MyStuff, but as we are all well aware where PCs are concerned, what worked last week may not work this week.

Graham

One of the problems now is that people have settings turned off on their pcs which would have, by default, been turned on. There are also many more browsers around that didn't exist when the software was developed i.e. not tested withe these browsers. As the toppy is now obsolete (sadly), it is not worthwhile attempting to make the old software work with recent pc software.

Thanks Geoff - now have the second Toppy updated.

Have found your 'Check MyStuff' and 'Analyze Prog Files' invaluable.

Have the following error on one PVR
Favourites folder: \ProgramFiles\Settings\MyStuff\FavLists\
<<< 'All 4s.mcl' has at least one blank line at end of file (can cause EPG display issues)
<<< 'All 4s.mcl' contains no valid channels (may cause Error 14 in MyStuff)
<<< 'All 5s.mcl' has at least one blank line at end of file (can cause EPG display issues)
<<< 'All 5s.mcl' contains no valid channels (may cause Error 14 in MyStuff)
<<< 'All ITVs.mcl' has at least one blank line at end of file (can cause EPG display issues)
<<< 'All ITVs.mcl' contains no valid channels (may cause Error 14 in MyStuff)

Can / should I delete these ?

MS uses these .mcl files to subset the channels e.e. you could use "all 4s.mcl" to restrict the epg to just these channels or, more likely, to restrict a search to a set of channels e.g. no point searching all channels for Coronation Street when you know it is only on ITV* channels - restricting the search makes operations quicker..

You can either populate these files (TM| PcControl| Edit Favorites) or you can just delete them (Use TM Connection| Browse or Antares); I have them but never use these features

Suggest you just delete them.

Looks like your signature needs updating - use TM Tools| Update Forum Profile on your main toppy (don't bother mentioning the 2nd unless majorly different)
