A peek at my diary tells me that it's ten years ago this week that I registered toppy.org.uk (25th Feb 2005).

The first post in the current forum was made later in March of that year. When the site was initially created, we used a different forum tool, which we pretty quickly outgrew.

We'll be having to make a few changes soon, moving bits of the site to another server, as the one we're using at the moment is now obsolete and impossible to patch to current seecurity standards.

I'll try to ensure that happens as transparently as possible.

Nigel.

Nigel,
I'd just like to say how much I appreciate your hard work and dedication in providing this site. I've always found it a friendly place which I put down to ethos you engendered from the start.
Thanks You.

Many thanks from me too for keeping the forum going for the gradually diminishing number of Toppy enthusiasts.

Here's to the next 10 years Very Happy

Hi
Although I have moved on and am now a Gigablue user, I can only wish the forum another 10 happy years. It was the backbone of my 10 years of Toppy use and made the Toppy a brilliant box.

As with other forums and web resources that have been largely run for love and a community spirit, it has been a pleasure to take part in what has been created. Without this site, owning a Toppy would not have been anywhere near as much fun and the product nowhere near as useful. Mr. Green

Thank you and a very happy birthday!

As others have said, owning a Toppy would not have been the same without the forum - a great resource that continues to offer much to those who are still using the Toppy.

I, for one, see no reason to move on yet Wink although looking at the transmitter details of a lot of those still active, it may be a predominantly Mendip-based user base before long!

@Nigel

Thank you very much for providing this site; it gives me something to do inbetween golf and ukulele!

I'm with Geoff here, contributing to and learning from this site has given me immense pleasure. I have made friends that mostly I have never met and written reams of software to cope with 'Pick of the Week' leaving other hobbies behind. I too propose to stay til the bitter end (DSO2?)

I should also mention that many others, and in particular Hyde, have done a lot more work than me of late, approving new members, and keeping an eye on spam etc.

A belated Happy Birthday from another forum member. Well done Nigel for persisting with it long past the Toppy's prime! And I suspect this is largely due to AndyFras's contributions from people both donating poorly Toppies, and buying his refurbished ones, so thanks to Andy too.

Quite apart from the huge amount that I have learned (and been able to pass on to others) here, I'm another one who has met a number of the members in person (predominantly the MyStuff team, and andyfras) as a result of my participation in this hugely helpful community.

Julie
