This is now available - see here for more details, and download from here.
Pending an update to TopManager, the Freeview.dat file has the lines for local channels on LCNs 8/719/720 commented out - if you receive these and do not use TopManager, you may remove the initial "#".

This is intentional; it is to cater for the 24+ local TV channels that have started (are starting) to appear.
It is commented out at present because TopManager will treat it as a wild card name and match most channels to this line. I'm about to release another version of TM that will only match wild names when the LCN also matches. After a few weeks (to give time for users to upgrade TM), EMJB will uncomment this line (likewise for 719/720)

The first one is for Scotland and is/has been in use for some time. Matching is sequential from the start of the file and the fields in the two lines may not be identical. So anyone in Scotland will match Alba with it's specific fields. When "LCN=8 Name=~" is activated, this will pick up the local stations in England/Wales (but the wild name will only apply to LCN 8 ),

@Geoff, I presume the 'smiley' is the result of a close bracket appearing after the text LCN 8. |

Now the Olympics are done I did a retune for the 302/303 red button changes. During the process I noticed that one of the muxes was not only showing a quality of <50 (I normally get 100 on them all) but the frequency shown was not from my local transmitter (Mendip). I think it was from Stockland Hill (nearer but the wrong side of the Blackdown Hills). I quit CO, a mistake as I lost 40-odd timers, and tried Signal Monitor. To my dismay it gave the same result, so back to CO where I chose to scan from the Mendip transmitter setting, rather than use the previous (option 4). This time I got the correct set of frequencies so set about re-entering my timers.
Not sure what happened here (although there is reported engineering work on the transmitter this week). |

Not sure why BBC did it like that, They renamed 302 to 303 so they could recreate 302 on a different Mux. Now looks like they deleted the new 302 and just renamed 303 back to "BBC RB 302", and Toppy owners end up with duplicate name. Presumably just need to delete the temp 302 that was on a com mux, and leave the one on on PSB1, but reset/rescan safest! |

I'm confused
I, or rather MyInfo, noticed the duplicate channels last night and I deleted 303 without doing a scan.
Reading mstombs's previous post, I thought that I should probably have deleted 302 rather than 303 so I performed a scan. This showed that 303 no longer exists (but it must have last night) and that 302 does exist (it just shows "BBC Red Button").
I'm not quite sure what the SVCIds for each channel were last night but, to be on the safe side, I suggest that users do a rescan, or failing that, they delete both 302 and 303 (you may get away with deleting 303 if you reboot the toppy afterwards)

I checked this morning and MyInfo reported odd duplicates (301/302/303).
Rescanned ok. |

To add to possible confusion on a Toppy - broadcasters seem to be able to change channel names without a channel scan provided the user hasn't manually changed the name - in which case the name becomes locked. I sometimes change name to fix/test logo problems. I haven't looked at the SVCIds, but probably have backups of the MyStuff Channel apo file if you want historical info? I didn't use MyInfo or CO this time I am afraid - just used native Toppy interface. I have previously played with channel name of "test" on 790 - to look at logos for channels I don't have, so though safest to reset/rescan for clean re-start. I noticed the clash due to COMMUNITY moving has been resolved - no longer a holding/redirect page in 80s
I assume there is some benefit to keeping a correct 301 and 302 for future linked BBC things via 200 ? But why they couldn't have used a temp 303 for the linked channel on the COM mux for the Winter games is beyond me. No doubt something will happen again for Football world cup and commonwealth games in the summer?
I feel that broadcasters expect most boxes to autoscan these days, so they can fiddle with channel list frequently without too much fuss. Expect lots of regional changes due to local channels, and possibly a biggy for childrens/news, before or after world cup? |

Not difficult - the question is whether it would be a good idea for all. Don't really want to have to make it optional.

At the moment, there is the nuisance value of MyInfo reporting duplicates on 301,302,303 which shouldn't (??) have caused me any problems
(apart from my mum ringing up to say what does this mean?). |
