Thanks. I use CO for this, but I always fret I will mess up. |

...but looks like I have done it. I asked it to scan using my previous transmitter.
CO did not remember all my previous settings, but hey ho. I hope it will remember them next time. |

The 'missing' channel will be for the launch of the eagerly awaited Film4 +1 real soon now. Now we know what all the fuss was about, if you do yet another rescan you should pick up the following:
LCN15: Film4 - changed mux to D3&D4/PSB2
LCN45: Film4 +1 (coming soon caption) - 27th August
LCN42: Travel Channel (18:00 onward)
LCN57: BT Sport - changed mux, 18:00 onward)
Edit: and before you ask, the 'Now & Next' on Film4 has stopped working. It is a channel thing, and affects both Toppy & TV. |

I've just rescanned to pick up the new channels and I'm now stuck in a rebooting loop. Maybe my Toppy is getting past it (though it had the andyfras treatment a couple of years ago), or maybe there's something in the new configuration which is affecting it. I hope it doesn't mean falling-down Toppies across the country . |

Have you tried holding down the 0 button while booting to prevent TAPs from running?
Otherwise, disconnect the hard drive to see if it works OK as a receiver. If so, there may be some disk corruption. |

Yes, I forgot to say that I tried holding down '0'. I'll go on playing, but every time something like this happens, I feel a Humax HDR-Fox T2 coming on! |

I've got back in using 'Empty Settings'. I've reset and rescanned and things are not falling over - this is a Good Thing . I'm not sure what the implications are for getting back to exactly how it was, so I'll go on playing. Apologies for the thread drift . |

Don't know whether this thread is still a 'thing', but it's affected me too. (TF5810 running MyStuff 6.5, tuned to Winter Hill.)
Lost a couple of recordings on ITV and E4 the other week, and had no idea why. Tried power-cycling (unplugged from mains), left it to record a few progs last week while I was on holiday, and everything on PSB2 was a tiny file size that just skipped straight to the end of the progress bar on a blank screen. Factory reset, re-scan, and all is now well again. |

I'm not planning to fix it, I just want to look at the file contents.
Re the above, I have now been provided with two samples (many thanks to widget and MikB)

Very much so. It wouldn't surprise me if what was done on PSB2 will also be done on at least one more mux at some future date. It follows that Geoff's analysis could well be useful.
Next rescan August 27th. |

Just to clarify: I'm not intending to fix the problem; I'm only trying to see if I can get my "future" file system tap to identify that the recording is bad (a bit like BobD's bad files in MS - it already finds these).
A quick check of my two samples indicates that, if implemented, I would need to process the TS packets. I don't really want to do this because of the extra overhead but I suppose I could mitigate that by only reading/processing packets until a good one is found.
[edit]Of course, even if I can identify one of these bad recordings, there is no guarantee that the files will exhibit the same characteristics when they next bu66er about.[/edit].
I'll think about it!
Cheers
Geoff |

After experiencing this problem recently on both of the Toppys I own, and reading through 23 pages on this thread yesterday (and my thanks to all of you trying to nail this), I thought I'd try the rescan approach on my spare Toppy. I used Channel Organiser to do it.
Result: 3 subsequent recordings on Channel 4 and 5 produced the usual 4KB file. A BBC recording worked OK. So, from my perspective, this thread is definitely still a 'thing'.
But here's a peculiar fact: my main Toppy was set to record the same programmes and they all recorded OK (including the Channel 4/5 stuff). My signature describes the set-up on the spare Toppy; the main Toppy has an older set-up (eg. MyStuff 6.4) and exhibits the problem far less frequently. And the main Toppy has not had a rescan. Go figure!

Hmm that's odd & worrying. What transmitter are you on? Could they still be fiddling with it? Try rescanning a second time?
Keep hold of the same recording made on the two Toppies, one which failed and one which succeeded. Perhaps Geoff would be interested in comparing them?
I am still "fixed" down here on Redruth. |

@londc3, did you clear and re-populate the EPG, otherwise you will be using bad data saved to disk by MyStuff? |
