I didn't notice the channel manager tap, I have used favourite manager or similar name for years and that also allows custom times to be entered for restricting the time search on part time channels.
Channel Organiser is installed automatically (in /ProgramFiles/Utilities) by the MyStuff installer, and superseded Favourite Manager a long time ago (see http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/emjbtaps/).

Shouldn't the installer fetch it automatically from EMJB's site? (it could still have an old one in the just in case it couldn't retrieve it)

Geoff

It doesn't at the moment but I think I could make it.

Probably a good idea, seeing that most people use the installer as an all-powerful one-stop-shop Wink.

Eyeballing the EPG2MEI file looks as though it should work ok and that it has the correct restriction times as specified by Freeview.dat (not quite sure where EMJB gets the times from; I couldn't find them by googling - obviously used the wrong search words).

I get them by looking at the native EPG when new channels appear, but I may miss changes in hours that are not associated with channel shuffles.

Have put an [Include] for a single channel (1) in my .ini file, wiped the EPG files and rebooted. After waiting, my EPG only has data for BBC1.
This means
1) EPG2MEI only collects data for channels specified in an [Include] sectiom
2) It collects for all channels if the [Include] section is missing
3) It does not collect data for channels in the [Restrict] section unless they are also mentioned in the [Include] section (or the [Include] section is mssing)
4) Anything in the [Exclude] section overrides entries in the [Include] or [Restrict] sections (not tested, based on what R2-D2 previously told me)

The solution is therefore to delete the [Include] section and it's contents (or use TopManager which does it anyway).

Geoff

The new version of CO only "includes" channels in your favourites lists to avoid collecting EPG data for channels that you are not interested in, and thus keeping the MS EPG load time to a minimum and being consistent with rt2mei. However perhaps this reflects the fact that I have channels on my Toppies that I never watch/listen to, but want for TAP testing purposes. (B1 versions gave you the choice between this and all channels.)

It seems to me that I could adopt one of the following policies:

(1) Follow TopManager's example and always omit the "Include" section

(2) Add some form of user input to determine whether to include it (based on Favourites only) or not. However I have eliminated such user inputs to allow automatic operation, so I don't like this idea.

(3) Use the existence of an "Include" section in the old file to determine whether to insert one based on Favourites only in the new file.

The last is probably only sensible if Geoff Bacon adopts (2) for TopManager - he doesn't have the worry of automatic operation to contend with and the advantages of a better user interface.

The key question therefore is:

DO YOU WANT EPG2MEI TO COLLECT DATA FOR ALL CHANNELS, OR JUST YOUR FAVOURITES?

All please. I have quite a large selection of Favourites files, and don't usually bother to check that they all contain all the correct channels every time I do a scan or run CO.

Besides, I'm using CO to delete the channels I really don't want any info about.

I don't have any favourites set up (I'll rephrase that, only the defaults) - can that be catered for?

Only by collecting for All channels, if your MyStuff default channel lists are set to the pseudo lists All Channels, All TV or All Radio, since the default Favourites will omit an awful lot of channels.

Channel Lists/Favourites/Radio Support
W1: Default Channel List=
W2: TV Channel List=
W3: Radio Channel List=

I know, that's why I mentioned it.

I can't really see any need to have active channels which have no epg data.

(unless you only want to access them via the native epg?)

All channels please, I only have channels in my lineup that I want to use at least occasionally, and never actively use a favourites list.

O.k., it will be enabled once 6.51 is released,

My vote is for all channels, which is MyStuff's default for W1 anyway.

I don't use Favourites, so all for me too please!

I use CO to delete any channel I don't want anyway.

OK, I give in - will remove the "Include" section in next version of CO.
