My Toppy is playing up and someone in another thread suggested replacing the front panel.

Assuming I can get hold of the right part, has anyone tried replacing a silver Toppy front panel with a black one? Would it work? I'm just thinking that if I'm going to do this, I have an opportunity to make my Toppy blend in with the rest of my AV kit.

This usually just means replaceing the front panel PCB not the whole front panel hardware.

Well, yes, but in for a penny and all that! Smile
It was only an extra 10 for the entire front panel including PCB, and as I'm opening up the case and pulling bits around, it seemed like a good opportunity. Kinda helps to justify the postage costs too.

After reading around and speaking to Turbosat, it seems that the black panel should be completely interchangeable with the silver one, so I'm going for it.

The 3 types of front panel (Silver, Black Panther, Facelift) are all interchangeable, but the metal screening plate behind it may need some modification as the card slot fittings are slightly different.

I've never seen a Polar White - what vintage was that?

I haven't had one of them to fix yet, but I doubt if they're any more reliable. Wink
