With the TF5800 it is easy use Altair to transfer the *.rec files to the PC for editing and making DVDs. I would like to do this on the 7710HDPVR. However, Altair is not mentioned in the 7710 manual and it is not clear if transfers can be made at all. Only Vega is mentioned for editing channel info etc. Has anyone experience of this or solved the problem? It would be a real pity if Topfield have excluded the possibility of transfers otherwise one would have to just record from the analogue playback and lose quality.

Thanks.

I don't no wether you can or not, but why don't you just try it and see if you can copy files to & throw. It can't hurt to find out.
There is a file transfer program built into topset which is surposed to be better than altair.

The 7710 has a USB *Host* connector - this means you should be able to connect to a USB disk - are there options in the firmware to transfer files to external drives? On the Australian 7000PVR we can do this.

Sorry to drag up this old thread, but I'm after some definitive answers on this.

Can the 7710HDPVR record HD as well as SD recordings? and is it possible to transfer them DIRECT from the PVR to PC (or mac)?

...done some research. There is suprisingly a lack of info on this.
Looks like it can via Top Set program via USB - hopefully at decent speeds - can anyone comment?

I guess since this model doesn't take TAPs, it's not that popular.
