Interesting trace, which shows that it was running in EPG2MEI code for a hook point that's not actually shared with anything else, but from the code dump it looks like the hook has been removed and it didn't ought to be called at all... scratching head...

EPG2MEI doesn't appear on the All Taps list?

http://www.toppy.org.uk/downloads/taps.php?tc=all

I've also looked (quite hard) - is there (user) documentation any where?

Hope I'm not missing the idiots guide for this - if I am it just proves I'm a qualified idiot!

Since upgrading to MyStuff v6.2 I've decided to try and get merged MEI's from rt2mei (been using for ages and still happily creating a MyStuff.mei file) and the OTA guide.

I've put EPG2MEI (TAP and ini) into AutoStart and also dropped the eit2mei TAP in for good measure.

I can see (in ProgramFiles) an eit2mei.mei file (157k), an EPG.mei at 3.7Mb, a Freeview.mei at 157k and a MyStuff.mei (4Mb). All generated this evening. The sizes would suggest that the merge is failing, and setting MyStuff to look at EPG.mei results in some channels with no EPG data. Any suggestions ?

Happy to recycle someone else's ini files!

On a related topic, is there an easy way to maintain rt2mei channel config data (and the same goes for the TF5000 display TAP)

Get rid of eit2mei. There's no point in having both.

Have you tried reading the instructions for merging rt data using EPG2MEI? There's a readme in the EPG2MEI zip file.

Yes. EMJB's Channel Manager.

I suggest you update to MyInfo 5.1, and get rid of the Duplicate Channel MI 5.1 will probably be clearer about what's wrong), set up the merge option in EPG2MEI.ini (which should be in the Settings folder, not Auto Start - if you have both, I'm not sure which will take precedence, but I strongly suspect that the MyStuff installer will have put a suitable one in Settings) and take it from there.

Julie

Thanks Julie - I was pretty sure I only had one ini file for EPG2MEI, or that AutoStart would take precedence....that seems to have been the only issue. The new MyInfo has sorted out the duplicate channel and now I just need to read up on channel manager to tidy up my display and rt2mei settings Smile

*then* I have the shiny 'new'/ex-display Toppy I got from Curry's this morning to configure! Lucky I just happen to have a spare Asus around to network it with Very Happy

Would it be possible for a future version of epg2mei to pull INCLUDE (and possibly EXCLUDE) selections from existing favourites files as an alternative to defining them in the .ini?

Further to the problems with epg2mei crashing the toppy I posted above ... I have removed the patch [Nr] NoIdleReenter & so far haven't been able to provoke a crash, despite my best efforts.

Ah... I failed to spot that in your patch list. That makes a little more sense, especially why nobody was having the same issue. [Nr] was experimental at best, and I had to give up on the problems in this area because of (a) the interactions with other low-level hacks and (b) no reports that could be positively linked to what look like rather large conceptual mistakes in the API.

Could someone remind me what the epg2mei.log (in AS) is for and can it be deleted if too large?

its just a log so you can see what the TAP has been doing if you have problems. Just delete it (or turn it off in the .ini)
