Thanks for giving me the inspiration to try again.
It worked fine if I made an effort to do the whole sequence quite quickly (without any delays to check what you needed to do next).

Often the problem is not pressing the keys quick enough. As you've probably gathered now, if you don't do it in a certain time, the setup cancels itself. Smile

I am pleased with the default keys chosen for the Toppy on the URC7555. In future I will be wanting to consider some macros to do things across devices -- such as turn two or three of them on or off as a group.

Indeed, macros are great. I've got shifted power set to switch on the Toppy then my TV.

I'm still awaiting setup info for my Yamaha AV amp (750SE) from OFA, but at the least I could "learn" a few of the keys directly.

I emailed them a couple of times and the responses were good, but I finally called them to try and sort something out and they were fantastic. I was so impressed by the knowledge of their staff. Everything was sorted in 5 minutes! Smile

I also have list for Panasonic DVD recorder and Yamaha AV receiver, I could post on here or send via e-mail to anyone interested.

Panasonic TV function codes are:

Extended functions for code: TV-0650

Hi Mike,

do you know if this will work with all Panny TV's where the Power button works with the 0650 code? I have a TX26LXD500...

I just got a Panasonic TX32LMD70. Power button needs to be held for a second or two. Works on my URC8820 either as a single key or if power is last key in a macro. Panny codes are fairly consistent. 0250 is your basic Panny TV. 0650 adds in Teletext etc. Some of the other functions use a different subdevice and aren't in either built-in code but the following "Magic" codes might work.

cheers for that. Once I worked out how to use the remote I found that only 3 of the keys I use were not on the right keys. In the end I used the learning mode. Worked a treat! For reference I used 0650 and I needed to learn Guide, Subtitles and one other I forget.

One more question. Has anyone looked at removing the text on the wrongly labelled keys and replacing it?

BTW its a nice remote. Much nicer keys than my Harmony 688 but harder to remember where you have put the mismatched keys!

Hi. I bought one of these a few days ago (10 slightly used on eBay), and I thought I'd post some comments.

First, thanks to everyone for posting useful info here, especially Mike for all those Panasonic codes. Besides my Toppy 5800 I have a Panasonic 37PX8B TV, a Panasonic E50 DVDR and an LG TV in the bedroom. I've now got all these programmed into my OFA, with volume punch-through to the main TV.

I haven't used any other programmable remote before, so can't compare. But I'm generally very pleased with the OFA's programmability. My one small complaint here is that macros affect the key equally for ALL devices. I think they would be much more useful if a key could execute different macros for each device. Still, I've managed to programme one very useful macro, to make the Subt key switch DVD subtitles on and off, an operation which otherwise takes 6 keystrokes. Fortunately this hasn't affected the Subt key for the other devices, which I had already programmed with key magic and key learning.

I'm not so happy with the physical shape of the remote and the key lay-out. I'd got used to using my Toppy remote one-handed, pressing all keys with my thumb. But this is very difficult with the OFA, because it's so long. I find I need to use the other hand for keys near the top of the remote. And some frequently used keys are near the very bottom of the remote where they're awkward to reach with the thumb. The most problematic is the Back (=Exit) key, in the bottom right. The Toppy and Panny remotes have the Menu, Guide and Exit keys (important navigation keys) clustered around the cursor keys, and I hadn't realised before just how advantageous this is. I've just reprogrammed the OFA's Menu key to do Exit, and I'm hoping that will be more convenient. (I've moved the Menu function to Shift-Menu, though I may change that later.) Plus, I expect the OFA will start to feel more natural as I get more used to it. I remember I wasn't very happy with the Toppy remote at first, but it's grown on me since. Wink

I use Mystuff and programmed 'Menu' on the OFA to do 'i' (put archive on the actual i key) and put 'Exit' on the '-/--' button (as well as on the exit). The upshot is that I can browse through listings etc just using my thumb.

(I drop back to the normal Toppy remote if I actually need to use the menu which is about once a month!)

I very rarely need to venture above the bottom third of my URC 7556 and can do that with one stubby fingered hand.

After JP1.2-ing and fiddling, the Humax Foxsat box seems to work on Sat-1176 on this remote, for those that might be interested. This is actually the code that OFA offer in the manual and online. Smile But at least JP1.2-ing has enabled me to set it up exactly how I wanted, with Exit on Back (rather than Back), and I think I could make an attempt at offering Key Magic codes if people want to move buttons or use funny ones...

Does anybody know whether the same codes should work for the URC 7781 (also in the Stealth range).

In my case, I'm using it for the bedroom setup. The main use is for the TV + Freeview box, but I also have access to the Toppy via an AV Sender, so have set up the TV, with the Freeview box under SAT, and want to use VCR (how archaic is that?) for the Toppy. OFA device code 1724 (as found on the Wiki page) doesn't work, and dear OFA still don't even list the Toppy either in the manual or on the web site.

I've filled in the email request page, but you lot will almost certainly get back to me in less than the statutory 30 working hours that they quote Wink

btw, I got this one because a) it has 4 additional buttons - labelled A to D (although strangely, no Info button, but I'll use 16:9 for that), and b) nowhere seems to currently have the 7555 or 7556 in stock for less money than I could pay to walk into Argos and get the 7781, namely 25.

I take it all back. I've had a reply from them already. Same device codes, but I need to do the software update first.

does anyone have a link to pdf of said manual please

or idiot proof instructions to prog those buttons for samsung lcd tv please

tempted to upgrade to posh harmony remote, circa 60, but want no problems with adding both hummy and toppy to its functions

Must be something with these remotes.. I am having the same problem with mine, I have to press the TV button for nearly a second for it to work.. Luckely I have a spare one for when I need to switch.. Smile I love the 7555 remote.

all sorted now thanks, someone on hummy forum posted a step by step guide

its a great remote for the price for sure, wondered why the tv button went, as its nowhere near the most used, maybe its position near the top of the remote makes it weaker?

not sure whether to upgrade now, as this ones been flawless once aldaweb set it up for me, i'm firmly in the duke of edinburghs camp!!

bixieupnorth: you could try taking it apart and cleaning it.. My TV button was better after I did, but then went back to being difficult to press again.
