This firmware is now available from the Member Only Downloads area of the site.
It is a beta firmware, which has been in use by the beta testing group for a reasonable period, and does not appear to have shown any new problems.
In addition, it fixes recent issues with Teletext on ITV/C4, and should address those issues found with BBCi during Wimbledon (though the absence of Wimbledon means it's not possible to be 100% certain).
Additionally, a memory leak in some recent firmwares has also been addressed. As a result of the stability in use by the beta testing, it's now being made available to other forum members.

gonna give it a try forthwith
it's got to be "beta" than the one in my toppy at the moment as it's always falling over on transfers |

If we're talking about TAPDiskFix then the new firmware is still broken in this regard, so the patch is still needed. If you reliably get USB problems then you could test it with and without the patch and let us know how you get on. |

| it wasn't USB problems per se but you could see the memory (very nearly) leaking away when doing any long transfer, then the toppy would eventually lock up and fall over |

try disabling eit2mei if you have it before starting the transfer,
or use turbo mode. seems to be what was causing my problems. |

And thanks to the wonders DeadBeef's USB Accelerator patch, non-turbo transfers are now the only way I do them! |

I'd rather you didn't; at the moment, it's not a general release firmware, which is why it's for members only. If we end up with public links to unofficially patched versions of unreleased firmwares, I don't think it will necessarily help convince people that we can be trusted to distribute things on a test basis. That's one reason why there are the reminders and the agreement at the top of the Member Only download page.
On the whole, I prefer that patched firmwares are on the member's only list anyway, or at least that something is done to ensure that people are less likely to download without realising that they're installing an unofficial version.
If there are version with useful patches, send them to me and I can add them to the member only downloads area.

In contrast, TimerPatch V4 is a generic patch, so should work on many future firmwares automatically. |
