Excuse my ignorance, but am I right in thinking the SysID of 546 is defined in the hardware, and that 5.14.02 is expecting a different SysID so it can only be loaded by HDFW, or is the SysID something defined in the firmware so TAPs running with this firmware will see the new ID?

The SysID is defined in the loader and in the header of the tfd file. The loader simply checks, if both values match (or the SysID in the header == 0x9999) and it refuses to download (E-06) if they?re not. The loader also puts the SysID into the RAM (0xA3FFFFFA) and this is the value which is seen by the firmware or by the TAPs.

Simply do a *(word*)0xA3FFFFFA=otherID and you?ll see otherID in the Toppy?s IRD status menu.

Don?t the Taps that use DE also have to have been updated to use the patch?

I know for the RE patch they need to be.

Yes, because the patch works in a different way to the TAP.

Will there be a patch for the TF5810 as HDFW won't load the current version into the TF5810 F/W?

You can use Description Extender TAP in the meantime. The end result will be the same.

Hi R2,

Would you be able to add the Oz Mar-08 firmware into the De patch, please?

There's no rush, I'd just like to try it out sometime. (I'm thinking of playing with some other EPGs).

Thanks,
Tango.

I'll take a look at it -- although there was a Finnish firmware recently that seems to make [De] much harder to implement. It might need to move over to the complex patch technique (which will take a while...).

Thanks for the quick reply. It was only something I was going to take a look at, so don't go down the complex path just on my behalf.
FWIW, the De patch can be applied to other Oz f/ws (eg. Nov-07, Feb-06 May-05). Which is why I originally assumed it was a firmware.dat thing...
Anyhow, thanks Smile

I think they got a "keen" engineer and he's made some general changes in this area, possibly in a bid to speed things up. Net result is that some of the data has moved or is hidden a bit, and so the simple patch no longer picks it up (and fails safely). The vast majority of the code is the same.

Is their a version of this [De] patch that will work on the 5.14.0x firmwares available yet?

Or if their is not, is this likley to be update in the not to near future to support these.
