[quote="malc"]Does Quickjump still need remote extender TAP or is RemExt firmware patch enough?

I have two working Tf5800PVRt's that have the Re pach and no tap.
I have tried all combinations of patch/tap with my 3rd PVR. No fix, still no arrows.
The tap's options change depending on the presence of the Re patch.

Don't forget when changing options in some TAPs by editing the .ini file that you may have go through the standby/on cycle for the .ini file to be read.

The order the TAPs load can sometimes change behaviours. Have you tried disabling all TAPS on coming out of standby and then just running QJ manually on its own?

PcControl doesn't have a GUI - it needs to be used in conjunction with a program like TopManager. Basically, TM issues commands to PcControl, it services them and returns the results back to the requesting program.

The QJ readme file says "Note if you installed QuickJump before installing RemoteExtender or the RemExt patch, the additional keys these extensions add will not be available until you reset the QuickJump options. "
i.e. you can't just update the firmware (and/or copy the QJ config file) over and expect it to work immediately.

At least one of the following will get you into the QJ menu:-
1) Press EXIT twice on the remote
2) TopManager| PcControl| TapCommander - select QJ and press Config
(Note: this doesn't use the TapCommander tap)
3) the TapCommander tap

I have PVR's been rebooted several time in different configurations, no fix.
I have also used 0 key to stop taps and then loaded QJ on its own but no fix.
I have not tried editing its .ini file directly, but as I have said before, I have swapped the file with one from a working unit, but no fix.

As I said before, you can't just copy the QJ settings file and expect it to detect the new capabilities; you have to go into it's config options for this to happen.
You may also find that you need to make a change to one of the settings to get it to write out a new .ini file (I can't remember if there is a Save option; there probably is if you scroll the screens but you shouldn't need this if you change one of the settings).

If it still doesn't work, I suggest you paste your MyInfo Log.

As posted, I have done this. There is no dedicated save, guess it saves on exit.
I have already tried the QJ config file from a working PVR, checked its settings, changed some, restarted, but same problem - tap menu shows V & P settings instead of left,up,etc.

I'll get hold of its current MyInfo.txt file and post its contents when I next connect to it.

Regards. Neil.

@Sunnyside Uk

There doesn't seem to be anything obvious in the MyInfo.log although you could fix the following:-
1) remove TapCommander (TC) from Auto Start; this isn't something you need much so you could run it via the toppy native menus should the need arise.
2) You don't need both TC and PcControl - if you want/keep PcControl, this provided equivalent operations to TC (plus much more)
3) You could use the Power off options in MyStuff; this would allow you to remove the PowerDown tap
The above will improve free memory but won't fix your problem.

Suggest you use the TopManager Tools|Analyse command and expand the QuickJump section to see if it flags any problems e.g. multiple
configuration files (shown by cherries). Taps look for their configuration files in different directories and use the first one that they detect. So it could be that it is finding a different file from the one you copied over.

I don't have any other ideas.

Geoff
