Talk about leaving it late! MyStuff 4.54 is now released, a full 7 hours before BobD goes on holiday!
Hopefully, this version will fix all those final timer problems, and occasional shutdown problems, still in 4.5x. As with those versions however, it should probably be treated as a beta version until we sure that it is stable. Remember that you can still run 4.5 under the new firmware should you be unlucky enough to still have problems with 4.54 (just make sure you delete all your .dat files before reverting to 4.5)
Thanks again to those users who have provided extra testing of this version, most notably sebw, danb77 and juwlz.
Anyway, 'tis now the holiday season, so don't expect any new versions for a while! Pretty much all the Team are off on holiday (not together!) at one time or another over the next month, but (at least) one of us will probably be keeping an eye on the thread at all times.
Cheers

oooh. I've just loaded 4.54 (after rebooting toppy with 0 pressed first) then on restarting the box again I got an 'Out of memory 111' error (never seen that before).
Not sure if it's the thing to do but... I've just deleted the freeview.mei and cleared the MEI archive, and restarted again and so far (apart from the expected lack of EPG message) it's OK. I've have to see what happens once its reloaded the EPG.
Also is 4.54 got anything in it that may fix then OFF message on shutdown?

Hi Arndale,
4.54 has lots of extra checks in for memory allocation so we can find problems easier if they occur. That message may be a one off, just keep an eye out if it reoccurs. 4.54 has *loads* of fixes in which may help the OFF message, but to be honest as we couldn't reliably recreate the OFF problem, it mayb still exist for some people. 4.54 should be better than all revs before it so we recommend people upgrade.
BTW, it is recommended than people exit MS (through the options menu) before over writing the TAP using Altair.
Cheers

Thanks for the info CW. I'll keep an eye on it and report back if the memory error comes back.
I assume that starting the Toppy with no taps, then loading MyStuff via Altair, and rebooting would work just as well as your suggestion (Just a bit more long winded).
Thanks

Whoops! Hols delayed for an hour or so, as SWMBO has not finished packing yet.
The 111 error is harmless, in that it was reporting a problem that almost certainly was not there! However, I have uploaded 4.54a which makes the check a tad more accurate, and so it should now not come up again.
Thanks all for the holiday wishes and funding!
Cheers
Just off to try to squeeze far too many cases into the car! |

Way to go Bob!
Is your laptop wirelessly connected as SWMBO drives you down the motorway?
Anyway, have a great holiday and thanks for all your dedicated support.

You might want to rename this thread to "Say thanks to Bob".
Thank you for all your support with this excellent TAP. Have a great holiday, I bet SWMBO will be glad to spend a bit of time with you |

He'll only fritter it away on wine, women and song!
Just to say I have just downloaded 4.54a and it all looks good. This after I had lots of problems after I had tried 4.51 . So bad in fact that I had to revert back to 4.5.
Off to activate the PayPal button now. |

With both 4.53 and 4.54a, I have the same problem with "favourites". I've checked by removing all other TAPs and rebooting, and it's still there. I reported this over on the 4.53 thread, posting date Thu Aug 03, 2006 9:58 pm - I'm not sure if there's anywhere more suitable I should have used.
http://forum.toppy.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5562&start=382
Symptom: all is fine if I view "all channels". However if I upload "My Favourites.mcl" containing a channel list, and then select it using Guide-Opt, it doesn't behave. In the guide, when I get to the bottom of the first screen, it scrolls up one row and "BBC ONE" appears in the bottom row. Any further scroll down wraps around to the top row (which is "BBC TWO") and down from there. So all channels other than will fit in the one screen are not visible.
In the original report I had a few teletext channels at the end, but I've got rid of those; My Favourites.mcl now contains
Code:
1
2
3
4
5
6
7
9
10
11
12
13
14
15
19
20
21
30
31
70
71
75
80
82
but the behaviour is still the same.
I'd appreciate if someone else could try to replicate this, and either confirm what I'm seeing, or else show that there's something weird about my particular box. I'm running Bastille firmware.
Regards,
Brian. |
