You can get up to date here. There's 3 pages of it.

I have just setup rt2mei to update through my Asus and everything is working fine except the rt2mei.cnf file does not contain all the channels so I'm missing EPG data for these channels.

I have tried updating the rt2mei.conf file through Channel Organiser but it doesnt seem to finish updating the file. This is all I get:

Code:

I've tried doing the same through Top Manager but it says it's writing to the file but makes no changes. The time stamp on the file dosen't change which suggests it hasn't done anything at all.

I'm still missing data for these channels

Quote:

55 Channel 5+24
61 True Entertainment
64 BONANZABONANZA

Does anyone know why this might be happening or failing that can you tell me where i can find the Rt ID data for these channels so that i can complete the config file manually?

Thanks
Steven

The information you are after is at http://xmltv.radiotimes.com/xmltv/channels.dat but is no longer supported. Furthermore you should consider replacing rt2mei with as2mei as one day the Radio Times data will be turned off.

Thanks, but I'd already looked at that and the channels I'm missing aren't on there.

I will certainly be looking at as2mei at some point. and if i cant get the data for my missing channels through rt2mei it may be sooner rather than later.

Like I said, the RT data will no longer be updated (and hasn't been since before Drama appeared) so I strongly recommend you take advantage of the sterling work done by EMJB to create a replacement. Moreover as2mei has a number of enhancements you may like.

EPG2MEI will (can) merge data from OTA EPG and rt2mei or as2mei, so there's no reason why you should have any channels with no EPG at all.

There is if you have your own EPG2MEI.ini file in place and have told it to exclude a channel which was absent, but is now present.

Hi All,

I thought of retiring my NSLU2 (unslug) which I've used for years to access my Toppy and as I happened to have an AppleTV handy I thought of configuring it as a replacement for my NSLU2.

I am running debian on it and thought that after sorting out the paths to puppy and php all would run as with the NSLU2. It's never that easy!

I am getting this error every couple of seconds:
Code:
./rt2mei: 83: ./rt2mei: let: not found
./rt2mei: 83: ./rt2mei: let: not found
./rt2mei: 83: ./rt2mei: let: not found

which after I looked at the script it makes me think that puppy is not doing the deed of accessing the toppy:
Code:
Andrex()
{
# Try 3 times to do the Puppy operation

local i=3
until [ $i -eq 0 ]
do
#    txt=`/opt/bin/puppy "$@" 2>$tmpfile`
    txt=`/usr/bin/puppy "$@" 2>$tmpfile`
    if [ $? -eq 0 ] ; then return 0 ; fi
    sleep 2
#    /opt/bin/puppy -qc cancel 2>$tmpfile
    /usr/bin/puppy -qc cancel 2>$tmpfile
    sleep 3
    let i=$i-1     <==This is line 83 in the script==<
done

return 1
}

The AppleTV only has one external USB port, to which I have connected a USB hub. On one port of the USB hub I have connected an external drive and on another I have connected the toppy. I also run ftp-topfield which works fine. However, puppy gives me this:
Code:
$ puppy -v -c size
usb_claim_interface returned an error (-1)

Is this caused by the USB hub and if so how can I fix/troubleshoot it?

The "let" problem is likely due to it being a bash command, and your default shell in dash.

Yes, thank you birdman, /bin/sh is a symlink to dash:
Code:
$ ls -la /bin/sh
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 Apr  3 07:45 /bin/sh -> dash

I changed its shebang from #!/bin/sh to # !/bin/bash and it now seems to run a bit further, but reports that the toppy is not on:
Code:
$ ./rt2mei -nograb
16/04/16 23:46:29: Job started
16/04/16 23:46:29: Radio Times data will not be grabbed
16/04/16 23:46:45: The Toppy is not ON

The toppy is on, as I can prove by accessing it with ftp, but when I run puppy in a terminal it still fails with the same error. So I'm thinking the problem is with puppy too.

Can I run it in a different way, or does it need recoding?

PS. Will as2mei give similar problems (I haven't tried it yet)?

Very likely as it uses puppy too.

I had a fresh look this morning. The problem was that puppy had to run as root. I added sudo to the script lines invoking it and it now completes the update. Smile

I am not sure how safe this may be from a security perspective. What would you suggest?

Next step, to read the pdf I downloaded about asmei and try that out. Smile

Not exactly. It needs to be able to write to the usb device, which can also be achieved by changing the group of the device and ensuring that your non-root account is in that group. However...

...given that you control the script I can't see it being anything to worry about. This is a "personal" system anyway.

Thanks birdman, you're right what was complaining about is access to the USB device, which needs setting up a udev rule to achieve it. No need to run as sudo the command itself. I fixed it by adding:
Code:
:~$ cat /etc/udev/rules.d/995-topfield.rules
ENV{DEVTYPE}=="usb_device", ATTR{idVendor}=="11db",GROUP:="plugdev",MODE="0664"

It's all working nicely now. Smile

The end is nigh, we now have an end date:-

I guess atlas /metabroadcast struggling to keep going and this a last ditch effort to keep their running costs down? I wonder if they have full time staff - their development forums have been very quiet for quite a while?

I wonder what commitment they made to the BBC when taking over the feeds?
