Hi All
Given we now have the London dates do we need a London area changeover summary of what to do "sticky" ?
Dates are;
Stage 1 - 4/4/2012
Stage 2 - 18/4/2012
Happy new year to all if the new year is not just a fond (or less fond javascript:emoticon(' ') ) memory |

Is London any different to any other region where it's already happened? If not, just search for old threads rather than reinventing the wheel.

| Those of us on Hannington are next I believe. I'm looking forward to it, as we might get a decent signal at last. We're theoretically in a 'no Freeview reception' area here in Fleet (unless you've got the highest gain aerial, group B filter and top-quality mast-head amplifier). |

Hannington has started the switchover today.
Sadly my BBC A mux quality has dropped below 90; much less than the others which are at, or close to, 100. I'm not sure whether this will improve before the next phase of the switchover in two weeks. |

How cruel - what a thing for them to do to someone who has saved so many Toppies from the scrap heap so so many others can watch Freeview!
The good news for you is that you are probably getting interference into BBC A on C45 from Mux C / ARQ A which is too close on C44+ just for the next couple of weeks.
But then so will everybody else in the same area in this crazy slow-motion DSO process this country is going through. Expect howls of rage in April when all the London users go through the process!
I don't rate your chances of building a selective analogue filter but I know you are good with electronics... |

In that case, I would expect that the new 'stronger' BBC A would be upsetting Mux C, but it's not. |

Agree - so maybe they'll fix it soon - very different transmission standards 8k and 2/3 supposed to be more robust, but maybe 16QAM wins?:-
C45 64QAM 2/3 8k DVB-T 50 kiloWatts
C44+ 16QAM 3/4 2k DVB-T 20 kiloWatts
perhaps 8k needs wider frequency slot? |

It seems that there is a problem with the Hannington transmitter:

They seem to have fixed it.
I am now getting 100 signal quality and 75 signal level on BBC A from Hannington. |

Hannington does seem to be rather feeble on power, my electric kettle uses nearly that much!
Once analogue is off in the surrounding areas they will probably up the power. Mendip will be pushing out 100kW after switchover and although I am miles (km) away from the transmitter, I get 100% quality and signal strength on the present 100KW muxes and 99/100% on the others. |

I spoke too soon; it's gone again, totally this time.
Apparently Arqiva got until 6pm to complete the switchover. I've no idea what would happen if they don't; maybe they get fined? |

Now it's back with 100% level and quality - that's more like it!
I've never seen 100% signal level here before. |

| Suggestion elsewhere it was a panel phasing error, giving directional variation - so they had to swap wire around or shorten something to fix? Guess we will never no for sure, just like the rumour on a nearby TX that the fire was caused by a spanner left somewhere in the works (more likely loose connection IMHO)? |
