fsCheck will show you all the disk SMART characteristics (including temperature) - but you may first have to use the HDDInfo tap to enable SMART reporting (I suspect HDDInfo also can't return the temperatures when SMART is not enabled).

Ended up with the same fan as you Jimi for my 5810. Arrived in post and fitted straight away. Pulling up/upwards. It's nice and quiet.

It's fitted temporary, but will look to at least enlarge the the round vent holes in the base if not the HDD carrier. Very Happy

I would post a photo it but i haven't found an alternative method since photo bucket has been changed Rolling Eyes

A fan in my main two 5800's will follow.

I now use flickr for photosharing. It's part of yahoo so you have to assume that any info there has been compromised, but having my own domain means I can choose a sign-up email address unique to each domain.

Thanks all for the recent info. I've (very belatedly) taken the plunge and ordered a fan and molex spur based on the links above. I might get time today, otherwise it will have to wait till after the festivities...
