I updated the 9 capacitors on my TF5810 4 years ago with a kit from Andy. Someone on Usenet is saying the 8/9 replacement policy is too few:

Quote:
That is *so* last year's advice Smile

It's up to at least 13 caps now, basically everything but the big
fat one across the rectified mains!

Seriously: If you only did 8 or 9, the rest will be getting tired
real soon Sad

Is there a change or is the poster confused with the TF5800?

All 13 are recommended to be replaced on the 5810, (18 on the 5800).

I can supply a supplementary kit of the remaining capacitors for either model. The previously changed ones will still be OK; I've never had to replace them twice.

I suspect that the remaining 4 in your 5810 are still OK, none are in critical positions; replacing them would only be for extra piece of mind.

Thanks Andy - I'll just bear in mind if any funny behaviour crops up it might be one of the other capacitors which I would have ruled out otherwise.

However a list of their details might be handy just in case and there is any difficulty getting hold of you.

Seems as if after 2022 we might be in trouble with these devices anyway?
