I have upgraded to 6.5 and had hoped it would sort out the ongoing issue of no epg data in my stuff for the new movie channel MM movie mix. However the problem continues. There is no epg data in my stuff although it is there in the native toppy epg.

I note the same is now happening to some extent on the new drama channel which only has epg data in my stuff in the evening, no information the rest of the day. again it is present in the native epg. Drama has some quite good programs on during the day at times.

The toppy has a complete new install of my stuff so I can't see anything I can do to sort this out?

Sounds like you have an Excludes entry in \ProgramFiles\Settings \EPG2MEI.ini

Suggest you use TopManager to edit the file or, better still, use the PcControl| Channel Management option to check that all your .ini files are correct.

Geoff

Note: I think juwlz suggested to someone else that they just delete the file and it would be recreated when EPG2MEI next runs (obviously it wouldn't have any EPG time restrictions but there aren't many of these now anyway)

Make sure you have an up to date Freeview.dat file (the MyStuff installer should have taken care of that), and use Channel Organiser TAP (in /ProgramFiles/Utilities) to regenerate the EPG2MEI.ini file (and all other relevant config files) for you. Alternatively, connect your Toppy to a Windows PC and use TopManager to do the same thing.

It was very much qualified with the statment that you must accept responsibility for any EPG problems this may cause, and it should only be done in extremis if connecting a PC really is too much hassle.

However, in this case, the Freeview.dat should have just been updated anyway (as part of the installer updating CO), so using CO to bring this up to date won't be an issue.

Don't forget that EMJB only updated the Freeview.dat file on Wednesday morning so if the install was done before that you will need to get the latest version available here

Just checked epg and it's missing large amounts including drama, yesterday.

Other people have developed tools so that you don't need specialist knowledge to do any of it (including the MyStuff installer to install all the tools for you).

If you updated MyStuff since Wednesday morning, all you need to do is run Channel Organiser (see Accessing the Native Archive and running TAPs manually for information on how to do that). You won't need to do a scan, but will need to choose the options to regenerate the various ini and data files appropriately for the channels you have - specifically EPG2MEI.ini. While you're running CO anyway, you may as well delete all the dross channels that you don't want to make everything run more smoothly, quickly and reliably. See Toppy Memory for more details.

If you updated MyStuff before then, you first need to either use TopManager to download and copy the latest Freeview.dat file, or download it to your PC from the link in meadfoot's post, and manually copy it to /ProgramFiles/Settings on the Toppy. Then run CO as above.

You may then need to reboot your Toppy to make sure all of the TAPs pick up their various ini files.

I assume you mean the native EPG?

I updated this evening and I do use the favourites manager.

Had not noticed the extra tools for file scan.

I have added 0 & 24 as the times. Nothing in those boxes before or for any other channel.
I have deleted the ini file.

Presumably the ini file is sored in the operating memory from start up?

Nothing changes at the moment when I force a rescan. I cant reboot as recording atthe moment. No new ini file has been created suggesting that it is using a temporary copy in a cache?

Like most ini files, EPG2MEI's is only read with the TAP first starts. EPG2MEI is what's collecting the EPG data on behalf of MyStuff. The easiest way to restart EPG2MEI is to reboot the Toppy.

Which ini file? The whole point of using CO was to update the ini file to have appropriate contents. If you deleted it before running CO, CO wouldn't have had a file to be able to update. If you deleted it afterwards, you wasted the effort of updating it using CO. In either case, first confirm that you have an up to date Freeview.dat file (i.e. downloaded since Wednesday morning), then reboot to create a new EPG2MEI.ini file, run CO again to update it properly, and then reboot to get EPG2MEI to restart using the new ini file.

Then give EPG2MEI half an hour or so without using the remote control to collect the data. (It's far too polite to use CPU cycles doing this while other, more important, things are happening.)

There is absolutely no need at all to delete the EPG2MEI.ini file under normal circumstances. This was ONLY suggested as a possible option (in combination with manually rescanning and deleting files), and with lots of provisos for another forum user who was absolutely adamant that he didn't want to connect his Toppy to a PC to get an up to date Freeview.dat file to allow to CO update things properly.

Julie
