THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM! see this thread (7 pages long, but you will see that I, along with many other seasoned owners suffered from it) http://forum.toppy.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=242202#242202

It would be helpful (as has already been suggested) to see a MyInfo log and signature, which would answer a number of questions about your setup. (See Help! in my sig.)

I've already posted a myInfo log earlier in the thread, so not sure what more you want from me. I don't know how to attach a sig, but the MyInfo log gives the same info.

Thanks for this Chris. This thread has been highlighted earlier in the current thread by ccs.
I read through it, but was unable to ascertain any solution except to wait until changeover was complete. As R2D2 remarked at the end of that thread:

The mess created by various stages of DSO does seem to be the most likely explanation.

It would be helpful if you could point out any effective action I can take at this point,

Many Thanks

Rob

Apologies, I hadn't waded back through it

See Help! in my sig Wink. It tells you how.

At the time I had one 5810 using standard native SLs (this is the one I had all of the trouble with) and another on which I was trying out the MyStuff TAP: you could always give MyStuff (or some similar TAP) a go as it just sets up timed recordings, with all of the series linkage being performed by the TAP not the native firmware.

Chris.

Just to add to the problems, Rowridge is suffering from channel loss due to atmospheric conditions.

And the good news - it looks like most of the country is suffering from the same failures.

I think i'll wait until after the changeover completes at Rowridge on March 21 to see if this solves the problem.
If it doesn't I'll try Mystuff to see if this bypasses the problem.
I'll let you know what the outcome is....

Very many thanks for all your help and advice on this problem

Early days at the moment, but all seems ok so far.

I was wrong.
Tried a scheduled recording of bbc2 via the epg, no indication of a recording scheduled in the epg, recordings list shows it as a recording for bbc1 and nothing got recorded at all.

It might be worth loading EmptySettings. I have seen odd tuning problems that aren't fixed by a factory reset, but are fixed by loading EmptySettings (followed by a factory reset).

This is definitely caused by the digital switchover on the 7th, so I will wait till the 21st and see what happens then.

well here we are again and still no better.
I have used empty settings, reset, scan and myinfo. Only one duplicate channel found and deleted, channel 32.
I can manually schedule recordings but if I use the epg to schedule a recording, it is listed as a recording for bbc1.
Somehow the epg is faulty but I have no idea how to fix it.
I have not yet tried a manual scan because I have not yet worked out which channels to use.

I'll be in Southampton with a Toppy tonight, so I'll see what happens with that one.

There are three taps you should be using - EPG2MEI,SecCache ,EITSub.
They'll improve epg collection.
Also, MyInfo has an ini file which should be put in programfiles/settings.
This will make your patch list more readable.

I presume these are placed in the autostart folder.

Yes, they go in "\ProgramFiles\Auto Start" ( note the space)

Can you please post your current MyInfo Log file ? ( I had a quick scan through your recent posts but couldn't see one; it may be there but I didn't see it).

Is there any reason why you are using the OZ surfer tap? I doubt that is the cause of your problems but you might want to consider using MyStuff (on the basis that lots of people know/use it and will be able to offer help if you have problems). Assuming you have a windows pc (please say if you don't), using the MyStuff installer will put all the taps that you require on the toppy. In the event that you don't like MyStuff, you can just remove the tap from Auto Start and reinstate your surfer tap.

Geoff
