I've been using MyStuff but for some reason on a friends Topfield it has just stopped working.
I believe they've just run the MyStuff Installer for 6.4.

I've searched the thread and tried a few suggestions, deleting the .mei lnk files but as soon as I load mystuff (even manually) the Topfield reboots.

I've now moved MyStuff out of the AutoStart directory and into the Program Files directory.

Below is the output of MyInfo Log.

Any advise would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I suspect that the EPG files are causing problem.

Assuming that you have a windows pc, install TopManager (link in my signature) and :-
1) Connection| Setting; create a USB (probably) connection
2) Connection| Open
3) Tools| Remove Bad EPG files (or similar named option)

Then put MyStuff back into Auto Startup and reboot.

Actually, if it is bad EPG files, you can probably just put MyStuff back and reboot without using TopManager (as EPG2MEI should have regenerated the EPG files after 40-50 mins).

Having got the toppy working again (assumed) you need to remove the dross channels (pay, shop and porn). This is best achieved with the ChannelOrganiser tap (which should be in \ProgramFiles\Utilities); if not, use the "Tools| Install Taps" option in TopManager. Aim to get down to around 40 TV channels (some say 40 including the radio channels). This will improve free memory and make the toppy more responsive to the remote as it doen't have to process EPG data for things you will never watch)
You might want to check that your friends TX Channels (22,25,28,29,32,34) are the same as on your toppy (assuming yours is working and you get signals from the same transmitter)

Hi,
I had a similar issue, after years of flawless MyStuff service.
I removed all my files, formated the drives, and still MyStuff wouldn't load, even after a fresh install.
I re-flashed the firmware, installed a new drive and now I finally have it running, but not perfect. I can't set timers!
I hope to find a solution for that...

Hardware (i.e. PSU) failure also has to be considered on any Toppy over a couple of years old, especially if it doesn't get put in standby at least once a day, or if it's in a cabinet, or a stack of other HiFi equipment so that it runs hot. But even in ideal conditions, the capacitors in the PSU will fall sooner or later, with various and somewhat unpredictable symptoms.

Andyfras or MikeyP can do a very cost-effective repair for you, but don't delay - PSU failures can escalate, and if left unfixed can have a knock on effect on other hardware components, such as the hard drive.

Thanks for all the replies.

I ran TopManager and removed all the EPG files, but the problem remained.
I also deleted the junk channels and still the problem stayed.
I had some of the capacitors replaced a couple of years ago when the hard drive wasn't working properly.

In the end I resolved the problem by renaming the MyStuff directory and starting fresh. So I'm not entirely sure which file was corrupted but all is working again now.

Cheers.

A full repair involves changing 13 capacitors. As you're having disk problems again, I'd say you've bought yourself some time by renaming the directory containing corrupt files, but you'll probably get more corruptions sooner or later, so now's a good time to get all of them changed (or at least the ones that didn't get done before), before the disk suffers permanent damage.
