I'm not sure how to add a tap to the tap section, but this forum seems the most appropriate place to introduce my first stab at writing a tap.
It lists all the films in the EPG in time order, so hopefully useful to film buffs out there. It is available here (forgive the ads):-
http://movie.guide.angelfire.com/
It has been tested on a couple of 5800 with different UK configurations and seems stable, I would be interested to know if it works on a 5810 though.

Hi Gary...
Great to see a new Tap developer on the forums (i only wish i was clever enough - but i'm not ).
I will give it a try when i get some time.
But here a couple of quick observations from the screenshot on your download site:
1. It would be nice if you could provide MyStuff Skin support to allow us to match the colour scheme to our EPG Taps.
2. It would be nice if you could have the option of showing the Channel Logos (again as per MyStuff EPG use) instead of the the LCN and Channel Name text.
Many thanks, and keep developing. Del

Hi Gary,
if you want to know about MyStuff skins see the manual linked from my sig. Also if you want the code for logos then I believe it is available as MyStuff uses the UKTimers code which is open source (somewhere)

Gary,
Tried your TAP - simple and effective! Nice one.
And now the complaint Movie/Drama also picks up things such as Angel/Film 2008/Spooks/Closedown(hmmm?)/Lost, and more... Would it be possible to also check the length of a recording? I'd say anything between 1hr20 and 3hr30 would probably pick up most Films and cut out the garbage.
Another problem might be films that are split by news programmes, etc. Dunno exactly how this programming malarkey works but maybe you could check to see if there is a second showing within the hour or something similar?
Anyway, its great to see a new face on the scene. Hope you decide to keep up with the thankless task of keeping all the complainers happy!
Glen. |

Thanks to all for your suggestions and comments, will look into those.
Yeah, it's a bit annoying the broadcasters can't seem to get the EPG data correct all the time, it's also a shame we don't seem to use the sub-genre in the UK, it should be possible to apply extra filtering and maybe identify films split by the news, will also have a look at that.
Thanks! |

Hi Gary,
MyStuff spots films split by the news. I'll ask Bob for the logic he uses...

chunkywizard wrote: MyStuff spots films split by the news. Yes, but it also regularly gets in wrong. The most common cause of this recently has been docs on BBC4 that they almost instantly repeat in the (now) early hours after some other short programme. And I'm fairly sure they weren't marked as films, either. |

Well, we can fix it if we knew there was a problem
Can you give us an example in the future and then we can fix it.
Cheers

There is also some logic on the gap size I think...
Sounds like it needs refining anyway!

chunkywizard wrote: There is also some logic on the gap size I think... This sort of thing is always going to be tricky, but here's an example (since you asked for one): BBC3, Fri 24th Oct, 01:10 "Coming of Age" (another episode follows after a different [shorter] programme). The more representative example of the ones I've normally found is (unfortunately) something that has just been on: BBC4, Mon 20th Oct, 00:30 "Les Paul: Chasing Sound" (repeated after a short different programme). |

The logic is something like:
1) You ask to record programme A
2) Programme B must not have the same name as programme A
3) Programme C must have the same name as programme A
4) Programme B's length must be less than the length of programme A
Oh, and it can in fact be programme A, followed by B+C, with programme D being the second half of A. |

I have tried to use this TAP but when I press list I get TV Services.
I am loading the TAP manualy. I use Mystuff & Mediamanager.
Patch De is applied.

If you're getting TV Services then double-check you have run the TAP. Also, I had to shut down MyStuff as it uses the List key.
