tt's been 2 years since I took over from R2-D2 and contributing to the "Pick of the Week" topic and in that time there have been many changes to the Freeview line-up, most notable of which is the addition of 3, maybe 4, new film-orientated channels. This has left me with over 9000 lines of EPG data to trawl through revealing around 600 film showings. After removing duplicates this still leaves about 470 from which a synopsis of the description is made for posting on the forum. Due to the quantity of films, Movies4Men has its own post so these are extracted separately.

Well, I am not going to do it any more - no really, 'cos I now have a series of routines that will extract and prepare the films for posting with just a few mouse clicks. It's not perfect, there are always 4 or 5 films whose descriptions defy analysis, but I can assist with that. And for those that like old films, dates prior to 1960, where known, are automatically appended.

As for the rest, another mouse click removes the shopping, news and various items of padding, leaving new series and 'one offs' for a manual synopsis and selection.

Please feel free to report any 'anomalies' among the films so that I can blame the computer and either refine the code, or do a John Cleese and whack it with some foliage.

Hand on heart, have you actually watched (and felt that it was worthwhile to have done so) a movie on "Movies for Men"?

I think I have recorded and watched one, but the impact was so great I cannot remember much about it. Good channel for fans of Western films though, if you like that sort of thing. Smile
