Just before Christmas (literally) a huge wind turbine (largest on-shore in Europe) was commissioned near us. It is direct line of sight between us and Sandy Heath. Pictures and audio break up to such an extent that the pixelation means all programmes are unviewable. I think the interference has damaaged our TF-5810.

So far, I have found that we are missed the last episode of Atlantis to be broadcast (21st. Dec) and the 3 Royal Institution Lectures broadcast on 29th., 30th. and 31st. December. If anybody has a copy of these programmes could I have a copy off you please? I will send you a link to a file storage site that will take up to a 2Gb file.

Thanks for any help.

A poor signal may have corrupted the hard disk, but this can be fixed.
Can't help with the programmes as I watch, then delete.

Do your neighbours have similar issues watching freeview tv?

Do you get interference when you watch the TV without going via the toppy? (assuming you have a freeview tv).

If no, then have you had the capacitors changed? - the wind turbine may have nothing to do with it (though it probably isn't helping)

Geoff

It's the whole village. No question it's the turbine.

Is there not a process whereby the wind turbine company have to pay to provide you with alternatative TV access (ie satellite)?

I hope so as it has cost me a lot of money.

It's the lost programmes that are more of a problem at the moment.

Bad luck with the wind turbine - those reports of the MOD blocking off-shore developments due to masking of radar may be accurate then! Personally I would have expected digital transmission to get through - unless it is just enough to knock you off the quality shelf.

[edit] Apparently it is due to the Fresnel Zone - see from P58 in
http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/binaries/research/technology-research/Report0809Final.pdf

I'm sure I recorded the Christmas lectures, and will be able to check next week - have watched or deleted!

I think I still have the Royal Institution Lectures, let me know if you still need them.
