IIRC from within the Archive, if you press 0 (zero) MS interface will reload the files contained therein, and so might take account of any name changes made outside the MS interface

HTH if it's right
Hi. Have tried pressing '0' and this has had no effect. The file names are still displayed in their 'un renamed' format. Should I try deleting any files in the MEI directory? Will they be re-created correctly?

There is no way to rename files in MS without deleting the .mei files, however deleting them will revert the information that MS displays to be the same as the Toppy displays (ie you will lose all the extra info that may be in the .mei file)

Of course you could also edit the saved .mei files to contain the new name, which would also keep all the old info.

Thanks Bob, will edit the MEI files to include the correct filenames. I assume these are just ASCII files?

Also, do you have any plans to include the renaming of archive files in MyStuff?

Yup, with a | char to delimit the fields

Thanks for the info. Is this because it is a real pain to implement or because it is not perceived to be a useful editon?

Mainly because its not something I would use myself, and would require more work than I think it would be worth. Still, as ever with MyStuff development, its all flexible, so it might appear at some point.

Okay no probs, thanks. I guess then MyStuff 5.2 will never automatically show a Toppy natively renamed file name without an MEI delete/edit?

It will show the file of course, but not the new name (unless you delete the mei file).

BTW 5.21 has just been released.

Okay, thanks Bob. Also, thanks for the new release and all your efforts.

As a point of interest, how do you formally test MyStuff? When I say formally, do your manual team of testers user Manual test scripts to ensure that MyStuff is correctly functionally / regression tested?

The reason I ask is because, as mentioned before, I run a software test and software development company and would be willing to give any advise that would be useful to the MyStuff team; obviously in the spirit of Mystuff...I.E. for free (cough, splutter, choke). Very Happy

The MyStuff Team recommends that you upgrade to the latest version. At time of writing this is version 5.21 which addresses the bugs found in 5.2.

The relevant thread is here:-

Please use this thread for future posts.

Thank-you.
