MyStuff stores the entended information associated with a recording in the MEI folder. It maintains a link between the rec file and this mei file. So if you edit the rec file name, that association is lost and you should then see standard info the Toppy writes to the rec header from the eit data it snatched from the epg when the program was broadcast.
What concerns me more is why MyStuff has got the program name and/or the description wrong in the first place
MyStuff doesn't provide a means of editing either the rec file name or associated mei data as it shouldn't be necessary
Can you post any more info on why MyStuff got this wrong, or if it didn't get this wrong, why you'd want to perform these edits?
Cheers |

Hi,
Sorry if this has already been asked but...
Does this TAP work on the Satellite boxes e.g. the TF5500?
Thanks
Matt. |

OK I understand now
Date/Time stamps are not accesible from the TAP API. So that effectively blocks being able to subsequently sort any edited file.
Ignoring any older combined recordings made with Jags...
The easiest method I can think of, without coding up a file name editor and mei link updater. Would be to stop the recording of the first program at the point Silent Witness starts?
If you wanted to make it more obvious still, I'd autofile both these recordings to the same folder. Then they'd always be in date/time order, no cutting necessary.
When we've investigated another feature of extending the "M" status of a recording for multiple file deletes to allow for sequential playback. That'll assist too, since you'll be able to mark both The Chase and Silent Witness to play sequentially, but because The Chase has a last viewed figure, you'll effectively start with the beginning of Silent Witness and then move on to the second recording without having to stop one and start the second.
But maintaining links between two rec files and a single mei file is something we'd have to look in to. I'd guess that we'd need an mei viewer linked off a button in the Archive, probably pressing Info on a particular recording, and from their, open the mei viewer and then perhaps using the blue key as the Marker activation button assign the mei of your choice with the current rec file. Assuming you've not deleted the first recording of course. One for the change log |

Matt. This post, and the ones that follow it, might help you decide to try it or not

I don't know if we ever got round to providing the N&N support, but best to try it out and let us know |

Has anyone else noticed that the QuickJump keys in MyStuff seem to be very inaccurate? I had my jumps set to 120, 60, 30 & -15 but the actual jumps never seemed to correspond with what I was expecting. To test what was actually happening, I recorded about 10 minutes of a digital clock with a video camera and uploaded the results to the Toppy. This showed that the actual jumps for the above settings were roughly 150, 75, 40 and ?13 seconds. To achieve what I originally wanted, I found that settings of 99, 48, 22 and ?21 seemed to do the trick.
Prior to using MyStuff ? which by the way is fantastic ? I used QuickJump, which seemed to deliver what I expected. I?m happy now that I?ve found a way to calibrate MyStuff jumps, but I think the code needs amending. |

Clever stuff. I have always suspected that the MyStuff jumps were inaccurate, but never bothered to pin it down. |

Specifically, seconds seems to be of different lengths when skipping forward vs. skipping backwards. ... or it could be a glitch in the time-space continuum, of course.

I seem to have a bug in the adjustment of cross-channel timers to prevent clashes
On this coming Thursday, I have 5 CTs:
19:30-20:00 Eastenders BBC1
20:00-21:00 The Bill ITV1
21:00-21:30 Extras BBC2
22:00-23:00 House Five
19:10-21:00 The Dish Film4 (set after we missed it the other day )
Padding removal from the first 3 would allow the Dish to be recorded, but it's marked as a clash.
D1 (start padding) = 2
D2 (end padding) = 10
D3 (x chan pad removal) = Yes

That's odd I've just set those CT's up in my test version (which, IIRC, shares the same clash code as 4.54a), and they work just fine.
I did set them up in the same order you listed them, but the priority settings shouldn't have had any effect
Odd, odd, odd |

RE innacurate skips - Perhaps it jumps to the nearest I-frame? Or perhaps the time in seconds is calculated as a percentage and that is used to skip, which has small rounding errors? Just a complete guess - no facts involved. |

| I've noticed inaccurate jumps too, but just never really thought anything of it. |

Yep. Me too. The minute jumps seem OK (red+green always seemed to skip about the same amount when watching "House") but the skip-back 30s seemed to be a bit variable...

Yes, skips are inaccurate. I have mine set -30, -15, +15, +30 (seconds) but it always takes 3 presses of -15 to compensate for 1 press of +30.

Hyde,
Thanks for the response.
Obviously, stopping the first recording at the right time would be ideal, but it is pretty difficult to predict the actual vagaries of BBC transmissoon (even for the might MyStuff ) so I guess we have to live with the difficulty and fine workarounds/solutions.
I appreciate that if the date/time stamp is inaccessible via the API, there is nothing that can be done there.
Putting the recordings in the same folder is a possibility, but kind of makes a mockery of any logical filing system. Still, it has its pros.
I think I would still favour a MyStuff programme name editor, which with judicious choice of names give a "by name" sort order that corresponded to the view order. |
