Last night I had a crash of MyStuff (probably self-inflicted!!) which resulted in an empty EPG.

I left it on afterwards for about 30 minutes and it had partly repopulated before I shut down to standby for the night.

This morning I brought it back up at about 0700 and now (0930) it has almost repopulated, apart from some gaps on Chan 4, including one tomorrow.

How long would you expect it to take from empty to completely restored?

Using the standard EPG, nothing clever.

30 minutes should be enough. Repopulation is speeded up by leaving the Toppy on a BBC channel. Any channel hopping slows the process down.

As Andy says, the EPG should fully populate within 20-30 mins (assuming there is data for all your channels)

It could just be that the EPG file stored on the disk lost it's contents or you could have had a minor file system corruption.

Suggest you post your MyInfo Log file in this thread.

Also suggest you run the fsCheck tap and post the results in the fsCheck Reports thread.

Geoff

Here is the latest MyInfo. I fully realise that this shows that I have not retuned for a very long time, but I am happy with the channels I have as they are and am not interested in any of the odd newer ones. Equally, I am happy with MyStuff 6.51 which, long ago, BobD tailored slightly to try and overcome a problem.

fsCheck report posted.

Edit: Thanks for your reassurance in the other thread Geoff.
Chan 4 still missing some data, but maybe it is just one of those gaps that des seem to happen from time to time.

fsCheck shows that the disk and file system are ok.

Can't see anything blatantly obvious with the MyInfo log apart from the fact that you are not running my PruneEPG tap (this discards EPG information for non existent channels as it is received). One possible scenario is that the EPG buffer is filling up with info for channels you can't receive, resulting in some of the wanted EPG data being discarded.

I believe that you can use TopManager |Tools| Install | PruneEPG to load the tap (this is automatically installed if you use the MyStuff installer)

I realize that you are probably not interested in upgrading your MS but the reason for your tailored version might no longer exist, Probably easiest to only upgrade if you get persistent problems

Thanks Geoff, I will look into PruneEPG when I have a bit of time. Presumably if TopManager will install it then it will go into the right place (PrrogramFiles/Auto Start perhaps?). As for MS, I think I will leave well alone for now.

I think it is reasonable to assume that it will, or you could simply copy the tap into that folder.

TM will put it into Auto Start.
You then either need to run it manually or reboot the system (reboot is the easy way)
You don't need to think about it after that (it automatically handles a rescan)

Thanks Geoff and ccs. PruneEPG now installed and running, will now wait and see what happens. Have also removed a few more unwanted channels, like ITV4+1.

Edit: After a few minutes, the missing EPG data has appeared - looks like PruneEPG was the answer. Thanks Geoff.
