Came across this randomly on ebay, a TRF-8800HD
Looks like it's in Australia, at first glance it looks like a 5810 with features like these Enigma boxes...

When abandoning the UK market Topfield did still introduce new boxes to the Australian market. However I don't believe any of these boxes were designed for running third party TAPS or were capable of running modified third party software such as MyStuff.

No, being Andriod based more like a mobile phone where you are stuck with the interface that Topfield/Andriod provide. In my opinion, an Android interface is great for a phone or tablet where you have touch screens but can be a right PITA if your screen happens to be your TV 6 feet away and your finger is replaced by a remote control or miniature wireless keyboard.
If tempted be careful, just because a box can get the 7 day EPG in Australia it doesn't mean that it is capable of doing the same in the UK. A PVR without a 7 day EPG could be just a brick.
The other thing to watch out for is HD audio which in the UK is ACC2.0 and ACC5.1. Australian TV may be different and this box may not be able to perform a ACC to AC3 conversion or a stereo down-mix.
If just wanting it for the Netfix/Youtube/Kodi functions than there are much better options at a small fraction of the price. The World of Satellite also site carries Andriod based boxes which are NOT Enigma2 and do NOT run OpenVix. |
