I get the following two problems (from time to time) usually with the 5800.

Problem 1:
A program starts to record OK but cuts off before its natural end,
and usually the last 10<20 min are lost.

When this happens, sometimes the PVR will then lock up, so any later recording will completely fail to record.

Checking the PVR the next day usually shows that the PVR did not shut down after that program, and the video content of the PVR's viewable TV channel, is frozen on the screen.
And the only way to unlock the PVR is to switch it off, and then back on.

Checking that program in the (Old) recorded-program-list:
Often shows that programs information, is for the program immediately before it (or the one before that), and the program title may be correct, or may also be that of the earlier program.

Checking that program in the (New) recorded-program-list:
Usually shows that programs information & title to be correct.

This normally happens on programs set to start before midnight, but end after midnight,
but it sometimes also happens on programs that start after midnight.
Also BBC1, BBC2 & BBC4 seem to be the main offenders.

Problem 2:
A recording appears to have recorded OK, except when you come to play it, all you get is a black screen, and the program runs to its end very quickly, so a one/two hour program runs through in about 10 sec.

Checking that program in the recorded-program-list:
Shows that its file-size is quite small, ie, just a few MB's,
yet it often shows the correct program information and duration.

If I'd happened to check that program while it was recording, all would have appeared to be in order.

Q: Are there any advisable settings that I need to check.

Many thanks.

You're running an old version of MyStuff, so updating may help, but it sounds more like a hardware related problem - power supply capacitors, poor signal or disc fails.

How old is the Toppy?

Have you ever had ALL the capacitors changed?
