I also never got access, I suspect the website http://www.bds.tv/ is an internet fossil and should have been deleted along with http://www.redbeemedia.com/services/listings-metadata

Which surely should be configured to redirect to the message on http://www.redbeemedia.com/

Red Bee was absorbed into Ericsson over a year ago

That explains why the initial acknowledgement came from an Ericcson email address!

Running "PHP as2mei.php -- -f -zst 283 -zwt 307" (without quotes) for 2 radio stations, followed by rt2mei for all my TV channels, was working ok for me up to yesterday. As expected, today rt2mei returns a 0-byte file, and my as2mei api key has been deactivated.

Thank you EMJB for having made as2mei available.

Charlie

One of the other intrested "groups" has gone down the mc2mxl route [ http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=3007859 ]. I thought I might have a play with mc2mxl, using the free Microsoft Media Centre legacy service feed, but how would I convert the resultant xmltv.xml file into a Mystuff.mei file for upload to the Toppy?

This article [ http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/wiki/index.php?title=Topfield_PVR ] seemingly suggests Bawbagg's MyStuff_Extended_Info [ http://forum.toppy.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2115 ] would do this. Or would that program only work with an .xml file generated from the RT feed? The download link is no longer valid so I haven't been able to experiment. Can anyone point me to an alternative source?

Thanks
Charlie

I did notice the words
Quote:
I did a test importing every single channel - that is a hell of a lot of data. It imported fine, but I did notice it uses a huge (a couple of gig for me) amount of memory during the actual import.
so for NSLU2 use a grab of a smaller number of channels at a time would be necessary.

Well, yes only those one wants. There seems to be a full 14 days data there so I'm interested - but I have no means of converting the .xml file into a .mei file.

Can anyone point me to/share a copy of either MyStuff_Extended_Info or some other program that will run under Windoes and do the conversion?

Thanks
Charlie

The point I was making is that 14-days data for only a few channels of data is more than the NSLU2 can handle. Most NSLU2 users would want more than that.

mc2xml seems to only be available for x86 machines, which rules out NSLU2 and like machines unless the author can be persuaded to release the source code or produce new versions.

Hi EMJB

For those of us who have x86 machines, something might be better than nothing? Can you help me with something to convert .xml to .mei? Or isn't it that simple?

Thanks
Charlie

If it is any help, the mei format is described in an rtf file among the as2mei packages.

Had a quick look at the output, and conversion to mei should be pretty straightforward. However inevitably when one comes to do it, it will show up some peculiarities that take time to resolve.

I haven't checked your comment that there is 14 days' data, but this would seem to be its only major advantage over the broadcast data. Unfortunately my impression is that the data marked "episode" is not the same when a programme is repeated, nor is there series number/episode number info making it difficult to identify repeats. I am therefore loathe to start a conversion exercise while there is still hope that Red Bee data may be available and better.

Oh well, if it's not as simple as just applying MyStuff_Extended_Info to the mc2xml.xml file then it would be beyond me anyway.

Thanks

The challenge was too much for me, and the weather too miserable, so I have produced a very crude conversion utility by bodging as2mei.php. It seems to works, and confirms the availability of 14 day's data.

See separate "xml2mei" thread for more info & download.
